  • Cold Weather Coolant Leak !!!

Posted by Brady on November 14, 2013 at 4:38 pm

Looked under the bus today in the bus barn after two nights of mid 30’s temps and a small puddle of coolant was on the ground… Checking around the engine bay, determined several coolant hoses / clamps were loose as a result of cold temps… We don’t experience much cold weather this far south, but guess with such a drastic temperature change, the clamps needed tightening….. I added Detroit coolant and all is good….

Nice to know the problem was found and corrected by checking and tightening hose clamp connections vs. more serious issues – that often result when you see fluids on the ground…

    The learning experience continues……

    Brady,

You’re not alone, when the temps get cold, any loose clamp will leave it’s mark. I check in the bays also anywhere there’s coolant hoses, those can make a real mess if missed. I think it’s mother natures way of reminding us about PM.:)

Anything that’s going to leak , is going to leak when it’s cold …Air lines , coolant ,water u name it… I like it I live in Wyoming it can get cold in mid December to end of February .. Good time to work on Bus.
