Coiled Air Hose
Posted by Archived on December 12, 2012 at 9:48 amWhere can I find a good quality, heavy duty hose to replace the straight one hanging off of the back of my bus to attach the toad?

Thanks, Rick. I tried NAPA but they only had shop type air hoses.
That’s like what I want, Jim. I’ll have to give them a call to see if they will sell it separately. I have actually considered changing out my Brakemaster 9000 for the Air Force One, but when I asked the folks at Marathon the M&G is what they suggested. I’m not really sure why, and doubt they know why.

One thing to consider when selecting a braking system is how the toad brakes operate. On our toads prior to the H2 Hummer the brakes were vacuum boosted. That included our Ram 1500.
Our Hummer is hydraulic boosted as is our new Ram 2500. Both have power brakes, but instead of using vacuum boost the power to assist the brakes comes from the power steering pump. The signficance of that is the M&G and Air Force one may not work with that kind of power brake boost. It is important to check with supplemental brake system manufacturers to make sure their system will function with hydraulic boosted brakes.

Good thought, Jon. Before I pull the trigger I will give them a call to check. All of the specifics are beyond me, but a “yes” or “no” to the question of whether it will work for my application should be easy enough to understand!
There is nothing wrong with the one I have now. I think. The last trip it didn’t function so I took it to Marathon (another story) for a check out of the bus. While it is functioning now, I did get the idea that a more simple system that would keep me dryer when God cries might be worthwhile.

I think the Air Force One and M&G are excellent systems based on the reports from owners. But I do know the AF-1 needs a vacuum boost brake system and the M&G might. I have Brakemaster and it works with any type of power brake
