If I remember, (remember a key word) 120 will keep you in lower elevations and straighter highway than going across 14. 14 has a lot of switch backs and is slower and more mountainous.

It’s more miles to an interstate that way but faster.

Take the back roads Tom. Bobbie and I did it last year with no problems. South of Thermopolis you will drive through the Wind River Canyon. BEAUTIFUL. Look for a picnic/parking area half way through on the southbound side. Stop for pictures and a close look at the sheer rock walls. We overnighted in Casper at the Rivers edge RV park right on the North Platte River
