Coach 784
Well I spent the day in Phoenix looking at some coaches. I really don’t want a 45 ft. Don’need 45 ft. 40 ft. coaches are not that popular. I enjoyed my visit with Steve at Arixona Luxury. He didn’t have a 40 for me but did have a gorgeous Royale 45. It was maple inside and the finish and fit were excellent. Just too big. I would buy that 0784 in a flash but the broker does not want to take it to Marathon for the delam test. I am willing to pay for the test and even drive it the 300 miles. One salesman said: You don’t need that test just tap it with your fist or the head of screwdiver. Another told me that I should not believe all the stuff you read in the forums. Very few units had the problem and by now if it isn’t loose it will be fine. ya sure!! Another said that He had someone that fixed them with glue and the cost was minimal. The coach is gorgeous but has a strange recent history. Once the forum owner sold it 2 different brokers have been involved. I think another fellow bought it and in a month it was sold to a broker. I was told it passed the delam test but no one produced the test. Then I was told that the unit did have some delam on one of the upper fiberglass panels but it was on an edge and they just reglued it. I really dont think that anyone has made a serious offer. It has been on and off the market for well over a year and has not sold. I will keep looking but don’t think anything will pop up. I don’t want an XL that is too old. I like the looks of the XLII. Thanks for everyone on the forum that tried to help.

Be strong. You obviously didn’t look directly into all that polished stainless and/or mirrors. If you do, they gotcha.But seriously, what about the mx records for the hundreds of other things??

I never got to the stage of talkng about maint. Records. My plan wast fly and look over the unit first. There is a book with thr last owners writing listing all the parts replaced with dates and miles. Dont know iif the invoices are available. But first i wanted the delam test. If it failed I would pass. Oh well. I will ke4rp looking

Don’t give up. It took me a year to find a coach that checked all the boxes.
40′ coaches are awesome.

I suspect a lot of coaches that had delam issues were permanently repaired and a lot were inspected were deemed free of defects.
But we know not every Prevost owner accesses sites like this one where they learn of potential problems that will require an inspection. Others choose to ignore problems. The point being there are still likely coaches with a delamination problem and to repair the coach it is not unreasonable to expect the total cost of a repair to approach or exceed as much as $50,000.
A buyer can do a preliminary test by using knuckles to rap on the skin, listening for the distinctive sound of a panel that is loose compared to the sound of a panel secured to the frame. But Prevost pressurizes the coach and loose panels that may not be detected by rapping on them will show as a skin panel blowing soap bubbles around the sections of the perimeter, some being under the bands that run around the coach on top of the panel edges.
If I were to buy a coach I would err on the side of caution by getting an insection at my expense just to know for sure the coach is OK. A seller that will not allow such inspection has every right, but I also have the right to walk away.

You can’t go to Marathon for a delam test, Prevost only.

Agree on don’t give up your search for a 40′ if that’s what you want. Nearly a year looking for us also – but two of my “boxes to check” were not really optional.
1) Storage bldg limited to 12′ wall, truss, door height (thanks to HOA). So roof airs were out. Which meant (for me) OTR A/C a must.
2) Because bus would be stored fully lowered, solid front axle (no IFS) was what I wanted.
3) Although certainly been around my share of 8v92’s (and like them), preference – tho not a deal breaker was Series 60.
After all that, still had to LOVE the interior colors, exterior colors etc. After about 8-9 months, the perfect (for us) bus appeared, NO boxes unchecked. Wife had me booked on a flight for the next day. Fortunately it all worked out.
This one happened to be a 40′. 45′ that met all requirements would have been fine too.
