Clutch problems
I’ve had this problem with my clutch pedal for a while. It is real stiff and makes a odd noise at the pedal when pressed down fully. At times it is difficult to get into gear when rolling but shifts fine other times. I have bleed the hydralic cylinder but in the cat view it shows a power assist for the clutch. There are no noises at the transmission and runs good in gear. No slippage of the clutch under load on the road. Any Ideas? Thanks

Mikie T, could it be, the throw out bearing is worn out? Someone posted a similar clutch problem on an old GMC that turned out to be a worn out, dry throw out bearing.

My first thought was a throw out bearing as well. If your going to drop the tranny, I’d plan on a complete clutch job while you,ve got the tranny out. Good luck Rick

One more thing to look at if you drop the tranny to do a clutch job, is the flywheel. See how it looks and if it has lots of wear. We resurfaced many on trucks and it really helped with clutch feel and longevity. Also, don’t forget the clutch brake….it may need replacement too…

Thanks everyone for the ideas. Hoping I am not having to go that deep unless all else fails. But if I have to I will be sure to take your advice and do a good repair by replacing all the parts mentioned. Talked with Bob and after all the air dryer, compresser and norgren replacement from the air issues, we are going to look at the clutch air assist first. Found out on a 5 speed the clutch works off Hydralic at the pedal and air assist at the transmission. Wish me luck, I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks! Mikie T.
