Clearing or Resetting The Transmission
Posted by Mike on November 16, 2015 at 3:51 pmCan the transmission’s “learned” shifting patterns be reset or erased by disconnecting the chasis batteries?

We may have a different tranny than your Monaco, but the learning reset I believe has to be done with the computer hook up. I thought it could be done via the shift pad, but can’t find the answer.

Here is another idea, call American Fleet, Inc. one of PC’s advertisers.
They worked on my Allison last month.

Hi,
The shift pattern is constantly updating itself. Every shift replaces the oldest on in the logic, so it is always a current pattern based on habits. Now, this being said, if the desire to start over is because of a undesireable shift feel I suggest checking the shift pad for any codes. If the engine speed sensor fails it will have harsh, late shifts. Might be worth a check.

If the transmission is making harsh shifts it could be a signal that there is a problem. An Allison dealer can do a diagnosis that on the six speed transmission will include a graphic that will even show remaining clutch thickness.
That is a worthwhile check that will identify any faults or issues the transmission might have.

You can change from the economy mode to the preformance mode by pushing the down arrow when in mode under way but it will always reset to the enocomy mode when stopped or it should. If the preformance mode light stays on then you need a Allison dealer
