According to several Miami area news articles in December, there is a shortage of stone crab claws this year which is driving up prices. Conversely, there was an article commenting on the “solid start” of stone crab harvests in SW Florida. Go figure. But I bet the prices will be up.

Some of us that have a long distance to travel (800 miles each way) will use over $700 just for fuel so a few bucks more for crabs isn’t going to matter much.
The expert on sources for crabs is Granvil Tracy. Maybe he will suggest sources.

Already talked to Granvil’s source, theses crabby things are really expensive this year.

Here’s an update on what’s planned for the Clawfest, times to be announced later.
Friday 2/26 – Catered Dinner and Entertainment – Rick at River Landing is graciously providing a catered dinner and live music for the Rally.
Saturday 2/27 – PC catered stone crab dinner, byob.
Parking Tip – The sites are not yet paved, so you park parallel on the blacktop road. It is 40 – 50’ from the road to reach the power pedestal and water, so if your coach has a short cord, Marathon, be sure to bring a 50 amp extension. The sewer connection is about 20’.

No, just be sure you have a 50 amp extension if you have a short cord. I had to go about 60’.

It’s always great when you can count on your buddy to provide a serious safety item as a gift in front of 40 of your friends. The story is priceless.

We just got back to the coach after a great night at Claw Fest. Had a great time, the food was excellent, the conversation and adult beverages was even better then excellent. Had a really good time seeing old friends and making new friends. Really glad we made it here. Hopefully someone will post some pictures.
I had never had Stone Crab before and I have to say it was a real treat. Thanks to all the people who made this happen, especially the sponsors who paid for it.

Many thanks to ETLC and Tradewinds for their support. A special thanks to Deb and Terry for doing all the leg work making our job much easier, they found the Caterer who did a great job. And finally to fast Freddy for the margarita machine.

Great rally, lots of fun! Good to see folks we know and more new folks. Nice facility, generous host. Took a pic of the band and inadvertently caught Jon & Di in the frame. You can supply your own dialogue, but Jon’s still smiling. Nancy and Ann were having fun grooving with the band. Linda

I think that the top photo is about the time the band was playing Roger Miller’s King of The Road and Jon started to sing along at “Ain’t got no Cigarettes” and Di was telling him to shut the heck up.
Enjoyed the time, great memories.
