  • Circulating Pumps/Webasto

Posted by John on January 3, 2015 at 2:18 pm

The coach ( 98 CC) has a small coolant leak around the Webasto. After tightening hose clamps and checking hoses, It appears to be leaking from the external circulating pump. I need help with a couple of items.

Are the circulating pumps a webasto part?

Are the pumps usually repaired or replaced?

What is the best way to control the amount of coolant that will drain out when I disconnect the hoses to the pumps?

Any cautionary tips on working on the webasto/circulating pump system?

Thanks for your help. If this has been covered before, I could not located the post or article.

Here is a picture of a handy pliers used to block off coolant lines during repairs.

Locks in place when hose is squeezed tight.

If your pump motors are the same as mine don’t buy them from a webasto dealer, they will be expensive.

I will look up the invoice where I got mine a couple of years ago. I think about $400 some odd dollars.

I got them direct from the manufacturer.

When I changed out mine, I don’t remember a lot of coolant leaking out.

I suspect, but don’t know for sure that different conversions use different pumps, depending on how the converter configured the system and how much coolant the pump must move at any given time.

I would look at the existing pump, try to discern its manufacturer and model number and do an on-line search.

I think they do make repair kits but I just replaced my two pumps. A lot easier.

Here is where I got them.

Thanks for the information on the pumps. Both pumps are leaking from the gasket between the two parts of the pump. I’ll check out the price and availability from this supplier.
