Are you sure the existing wipers are not stainless, painted a flat black? The chances the manufacturer of the wiper arms makes them out of both steel and stainless steel is in my opinion very slight.

Use a little paint stripper on an old set. Stripper is available at Lowe’s or HD and works great. Then a few minutes with a buffer on the sheet metal part will have it looking great if the arms are stainless.

Ordinarily I would suggest that, but often automotive bright work such as trim used 400 series stainless steel and that is magnetic.

Just wondering why someone would want chrome wiper arms. The risk of the sun reflecting on them would bother me.

Occasionally, the sun will hit the top of the mirror arms and blind me. I have put down the passenger mesh shade to block the blinding glare.

I have also had the sun hit the driver’s mirror arm as well and I’ll just put a piece of paper at the window to block it. I’ve thought about putting black gorilla tape on top of the arm but haven’t yet.

I wondered the same thing as Mark points out. Why would you want those things to be so shiny when driving?

And then when you park the coach at a RV park or resort and put those covers/boots from Camping World on the wiper blades (and the mirrors), no one can see the bright, shiny stainless anyway.

It is a question of maintaining pace with the Jones’s.

We have seen Prevost owners falling all over themselves following the trends. Everything from replacing the quad sealed beam headlights with the Ford style (really shitty lighting) to the stacked tail lights replacing the separated round or rectangular ones on XL coaches, to 365 tires, to flat screen TVs, to replacing incandescent outside lights with LEDs. Every upgrade was replacing perfectly working components, but once the rush starts it seems some Prevost owners feel compelled to follow the crowd.

Don’t get me wrong, most of the changes had some improvement associated with the change (except going to the Ford style big lights) but I cannot think of a single one that justified the cost other than to make the coach more like everyone else’s. Some changes are made because it makes us feel better about the coach, and thus less likely to buy a newer one. Flat screen TV’s, new flooring, and maybe LED lights fit in that category. Those can change the character of the coach, especially if some other things accompany those changes.

But some changes don’t make sense, and polished or chrome plated wipers are in that category.

I think I might catch a little heat about the above post.

“To each his own” in terms of style! I certainly understand all points given. He is a man who likes his chrome “bling” The coach just arrived yesterday. I have a guy here in Nashville who is going to take them apart and chrome plate them for him. By the time we get done the coach will be blinding in the sun from all the chrome going on this thing! Lon at Florida Luxury Coach, a few years ago told me that he had the wiper blades and arms sandblasted and polished on an H I bought from him, and that he did them all the time, and for not much money. They are stainless.

I’ll text you his cell, maybe he can tell you who and where does that.

I’ve had them on 3 coaches, and never have had a problem with glare, or anything.

Bugs certainly clean off easier than the flat black ones too, and you don’t have to worry about chipping of the black.
