Chillin’ and waiting for Goodguys
So, heading north and westward from ETLC we’re in the Iowa State Fair Grounds because it’s close to DesMoines and we’ve never been there before. The campground area does have some “full” hookup sites (though no 50 amp electric) — we’re using a twin-30-to-50 pigtail. Hardly much in the way of level ground but when we got here there were only a few other campers so we got a level spot. Two days later we learned that the Goodguys Mid-Summer Nationals will be here, starting tomorrow. Now there are hundreds of other campers here along with lots of beautiful old and cars. At the moment there is one other Prevost here (towing a bumper pull RV trailer) and an older MCI. Haven’t seen the owners of either one yet. We love it when we stumble across something like this, unexpectedly being in the right place at the right time. Linda

I have no doubt Linda will seek out that other Prevost and make sure they are PC members.:)

We stayed at the Iowa State Fairgrounds campground a few years ago; I think I put it on the map. I think they have a hundred or more sites. I thought we had 50amp service, maybe not. Its a great place to stay if your doing anything in the Des Moines area or just passing through. As I understand it they have lots of horse events in addition to the State Fair. The night we arrived they sprint cars running on the dirt track. Some of the campground is located on what has to be the highest hill in all of Iowa!

According to their web site, 2300 spaces with water and electric, a little over than 700 with sewer as well. They don’t mention amperage. Saw your comment about “rolling” hills, too right! Linda
