Automatic just put in neutral and follow directions. no need to stop every few hundred miles. Pulled ours since 2006 24.5 mpg average 34 mpg highway. nice room in back to haul treasures. lite weight easy to pull. Bob

We have towed four different vehicles. In order a Dodge Raider (Mitsubishi Montero with a Dodge badge), a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup and our H2 Hummer.
Without a doubt the smaller and lighter the better. We towed the Jeep over 200,000 miles before selling it.
All of our vehicles had no tow restrictions which made towing much easier. We did not have to start them after every few hundred miles and there were no speed limitations.
If I had a say in the matter (I don’t) I would be towing a Subaru Forester or Outback.

I put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in park.
The Hummer H2 has no steering wheel lock so I can just lock the doors when I am done.
Because of its weight however I use a Brakemaster supplemental braking system which is tied into the relay valve for the rear bus brakes. It is an air cylinder that responds by pushing on the brake pedal proportional to how much braking force I am using in the coach. The Brakemaster requires me to attach it to the brake pedal and insall a pin to lock it ther, a pin to lock it to the floor and an air line connection. Less than a minute to install and remove.

Keep in mind I have an H2. An H3 might be different so depending on which model you get my info may be in error.
I do have to say that I wish it weighed less, but apart from that it tows as easy as anything else we have towed.
