  • Check Engine Light

Posted by Mike on January 27, 2019 at 10:58 am

In May/June 2018 time frame, I got a check engine light and a DDEC DDEC IV message to check at next stop. No code was ever observed. Stopped for fuel and when engine was restarted, no check engine light. While driving the light would come on intermittently. Sometime latter the light would come on, go off, then stay off for the remainder of the days driving.

I noticed that when the light came on, the turbo pressure gauge would fall to 0 (turbo was working and has never failed to work properly). Continuing, the light became more regular, however, the turbo gauge may or may not show turbo pressure. Currently, the light comes on a short while after getting on the road with the turbo gauge reading 0.

About four years ago, I went through the turbo wiring harness ordeal (that time, losing the turbo intermittently). The harness and both sensors were replaced and the coach returned to normal.

As mentioned above, my DDEC IV has give me no codes, and the coach has been running great (just a check engine light and no turbo gauge reading).

I’ve tried to reset/reboot the ECM (Prevost gave me three CB’s to recycle in the engine compartment). I only left them popped for five minutes vice the 15 minutes that Prevost recommended. No change.

Any ideas what’s going on and what I can do go fix the issue?
