I went ahead a ordered this one for 199.95 from Amazon, http://www.geniuschargers.com/G26000

They do have a G15000 that is new but not on their website for 159.95. The G7200 was 99.95.

I didn’t want to look back and wished I would have gone with the biggest one.

I periodically hook a 24 volt Battery Tender to my jump lugs and that does the trick.

I pulled the original 24 volt charger for the chassis batteries that Liberty installed on my 1999 coach and have a Guest/Mariner 2611A 12/24 volt charger.

I believe/think/heard somewhere that some of the converters are using the same or similar charger on their new coaches. From what I can tell, the charger has two sets of 12 volt leads. I’m a little puzzled as to how to hook it up to my set of four Group 31 batteries. Which leads go to what batteries? I’m awfully sure that positive goes to positive and negative goes to negative … but there are four of each.

I presume that all Prevost chassis batteries (with four 12 volt group 31 batteries in a set) are wired the same (I sure hope so). If you’re using a Guest/Mariner 2611A charger on your chassis batteries and/or it was installed by your converter (especially Liberty), I would be interested to know how it was wired to the batteries.

If you look at you four batteries you’ll see that there are 2 sets of batteries in parallel, hook your two sets of leads from your charger to each 12v bank (the two sets of batteries in parallel. Positive from charger to positive on battery #1 and negative from charger to negative on battery # 2

Be sure to notice that there are 2 sets of 2 batteries in parallel and will be connected + to + and – to –

When I use a battery charger to top off my four batteries that is what I do and it works great.

I’m away from the bus till later today. but if I recall correctly when I did mine the set of leads labeled “start bateries” on the Guest negative lead goes to the ground and positive to the12 V connection. the second set negative goes on the 12 V lead and the positive goes on the 24 volt lead. If you want confirmation I can look at my installation later today.

As Jon said I only turn it on every few months. It does a nice job as the batts are almost perfectly balanced at the end of the charge. I usually charge them overnight if I have not run the bus in a couple of months.
