When you get the price on that part from a truck parts place share that information. You are going to find the exact same price disparity on the brake chambers for your coach.

I have a luck getting brake parts from NAPA. The lift chamber from Prevost is a price that is totaly out of sight. I bought the rubber diaphram for the the lift chamber from NAPA for about $70. Took maybe 30 minutes to remove the lift chamber and repalce the rubber diaghram.
go to the NAPA on line site and search for this number:
MBI GC3036 $1490 Looks like the right one for the drive axle.
TWD HD30SLR $28.99 for front axle ???

Rangerbrake.com. (Brake Chambers)They are in Alexandria Tn and are a US company and point that out on their website One of our local after market truck shops is getting a Type 3036 for our coach’s drive for about $900.
Another local outfit is getting me a price from Bendix for the tag lift Type 36 using Prevosts number and cross referenced to Bendix. I will,post their results when they call back
Jon and others are correct on airbag pricing. Locally we can get Goodyear 1R11-088 airbags for a whopping $3250, with list price being $3730. With that info, I ordered 6 airbags from Prevost Elgin. By their way, they are made in Mexico, with manufacture date of 1/14. I called the Prevost branch that is shipping them, lay eyes on them and tell me origin and date of manufacture not wanting a Chinese made bag fearing they wouldn’t last. Ours current bags have manufacture date of 10/91.

You have the build sheets, were your air bags all the same. I replaced mine and they were all the same on all three axles as was stated on the build sheet.

Our airbags were all the same. When we got the coach, we had 630259 airbags (better known as “Mae West) put on. Our coach also has 4 shocks up front, too.
How many Norgrens 3 port and 5 port valve does yours hav for some reference, although I know we are a bit different. Jon told me we have 5 three port(6 to 16 dollars cheaper) and 3 five port (56 dollars cheaper)I found Norgrens at Sunsource locally and John Henry Foster in St Louis. Their prices have some savings over OEM prices, same valve. And if our Type 36 brake Chamber is just a B.C, then locally, we can obtain one for 10 times less than Elgin, but I haven’t heard back from our local Bendix retailer.

Anyone know if my vintage brake chambers are 30, 3036, 1624, and the lift 36? I know the tag is also a parking brake.
Last year I installed all new slack adjusters and discovered that the left tag caliper is stuck to its slide pins. Also the parking brake does not release without rolling back first, and the parking brake does not hold on a slight hill. I hope that new drive and tag chambers will fix the holding (broken spring). And freeing up the caliper will fix the releasing.
edit- The pads on the stuck caliper show no wear on the friction material and it is separating from the backing plate.

if you call Elgin with your Vin number, ask them to give you a price estimate fax or email with your bus specific parts needs, that will tell you what “Type” brake chambers you coach has
In my search for the same parts, I have discovered ther are others sources for these parts beside Prevost who can cross reference Prevost parts numbers
What spawned this search was the absolutely outrageous price from Prevost for a Type 36 service brake chamber used to lift the tag. At $445.53 list price each on my estimate from Elgin for Type 36 chambers, put me into shock, and the checkbook, too
i have discovered a few companies like Drivetrain Industries, Fleetpride have access to Prevost part numbers like the one for Type 36 brake chambers (640729) and cross reference to Bendix or otherl lines like RangerBrakes.net. Ranger Brake is a U S company building parts in Alexandia Tn. MGM is another company like Bendix.
Today I made our first purchase, a Type 3036 for drive chamber we have yet to replace. Prevost price on our estimate was $200.58. FleetPride Ranger Brake brand with tax $1020. I will be going back next week for our steer chambers, Type 24 and tag brake Type 16. Both pairs of chambers are priced less than forty dollars each The Type 36 tag lift chambers are priced about 9 times LESS than Prevosts invoice estimate. For a Type 36 I need to determine if the chambers are “short stroke or long stroke”. The power of each is the same, the difference is the length of shaft and shape of port on chamber where you connect your air line. If the port is circular, your chamber is a short stroke. If the threaded connection port is surrounded by a square shape molded into the chambers case your chamber is a long stoke chamber and has a longer shaft
i have also found a cheaper source for Norgren air valves,. Will post that info after I buy them.
Did find that Prevost has the BEST price on air tags, nearly $120 less than the same companies I am buying the brake chambers from

Thanks Jim for all the info. I will do exactly what you did. By the way , I live fifteen miles from Elgin, so if you need me to deliver anything over there, like a piece of your mind, just let me know- just kidding!
Also, I was aware of the good air bag deal from Prevost and executed that properly on all of them.
Situation: Going to retire end of May and budgeted the first week of June to go to Prevost Nashville and let them do a list of maintenance items. I’m wimping out on replacing windshield and side window and muffler and couple other things. Was going to let them do the brake chambers too, but with good info – not! Might have had a short retirement.
Never ( seven years ) been happy with how the bus stops, hoping it gets better when they are all working correctly.

yes I know. I had to call the branch where Elgin was shipping our airbags from to visually look and tell me where the bags were made. They are from Mexico not China, so we can lick them if we want

I respect Prevost and their ability to do great work. However before you do what you said get a firm quote. and then shop the work. Not only the poarts but labor.
You are likely to save thousands. Trust me.

I just googled prevost windshield to find them on sale at prevost in the first quarter of the year for the xl at 118 dollars each for a three lot, I’m IN! Several years ago on our prior bus I had a pro come to the house and swap out a windshield for 40 bucks, took 10 minutes. I saw every move he made and the tools he used. So you can probly guess who bot the tools.
Risking thread creep, anybody got the best muffler deal figured out?

Just bought a 30/36 chamber from Fleet Pride today. They get theirs from RangerBrake.com in Alexandria, Tn. with tax was $102 dollars.
Next week I will go buy the rest
Type 24-$31.99
Type 16-$39.15
Type 36-Tag Lift $38.57
Norgrens I will buy them from either Sunsource, locally, or Joh Henry Foster in St Louis via internet. I can’t order from them directly unless we were within rep who I was talking with sales region. But I was told thru internet purchase, territories are n’t a worry.
The 3 ports will be $555 from JHF, and $655 from Sunsource
The 5 ports will be $89.95 from either place.
All in all, Prevost was the best source for Airbags for price, but other entities were better on price on Norgrens and brake chambers. Heck, Norgren is only 11 miles from us, but they don’t sell direct.

Today, got 3036 for $1300 and 1624 for $350 from Ryder Fleet Products, and they get them from Haldex.
Do we need a forum to accumulate part numbers?

Your quote ($2119) for a Type 3036 (641181) is $110 more than my quote of $200.58 from two weeks ago. Wow!
