We put new one in this winter , you have to take pump out sweat some copper lines together make sure it’s all lined up before u sweat copper lines, you have to cut one of the lines off old hot water tank to get it apart then join back together

You boys Liberty’s have hot water heaters instead of the Aquq Hot systems or in cunjuction with?

I’ve done two of them, pull the water tank first so you have easier access to all the plumbing. If you can’t sweat cooper, you can use heater hose for the engine coolant loop.

No Aqua hot Glen , electric hot water heater also has a webasto to heat bus plus hot water , but if webasto is on the circulation pump is always on keeping hot coolant at the ready , I do not like it as much as the aqua hot that I had in the royale, in the royale I left the diesel aqua hot on for nine months it was flawless in winter I used the electric element to keep tank hot , diesel temp on low just in case power went out at night

Tom you do not have to pull the water tank to get at hot water tank , just the water pump
We did about 4 or 5 this winter from year 2000 liberty to 2006 liberty, at Jeff’s we never pulled the water tank to change out hot water tank , we always pulled water pump , but maybe it’s better to pull the water tank I don’t know never did it , now when we took out my old aluminum black tank and replaced it with the stainless one it would be easier with the black tank out, but only to maybe slide it in that’s it , not for the plumbing, the pipes on the hot water tank are on the curb side, black tank is on other side

Pat I replaced my water heater last winter. I had to pull the water pump to make room for tank removal. I used
shark bite fittings to hook cooper back together instead of sweating pipes. Rick

Definitely pull the water tank. Fairly easy to do, and once you have done it a time or two it is a 20 minute job.
If you are going to replace the water tank you will have to recreate the copper lines so there will be some sweat soldering required. If you are doing that you are poised to get serious about that aluminum holding tank also. Jeff Rowe can help you with that.
If you want to control the HW temps after driving this is the opportunity to add a second thermostat to the HW tank, and a solenoid valve to control the flow of coolant used to heat the tank while driving. That limits HW temp from getting up to almost 200 degrees, and can keep the temps at the same 125 degree factory setting.

Thank YOU all for the help and advice on installing a new 20 gallon hot water tank. The job went smoothly, except for a bad solder joint that I made the first time. Oh, the leaning curve, ha.
