I’ve got weights. I may switch when new tires are due, about 3 years. How much?
Also, I saw another post about putting a pouch of something in the tires. How exactly does that work?

Three ways I know of to balance tires:
Use lead weights. That method has been used forever. However we now know that if you experience a hard stop, the tire will rotate on the wheel so the tire will again be out of balance. This was proven by marking the tire and wheel on a coach and then doing a hard stop. The tire and wheels marks were no longer aligned, and in fact the tire had rotated quite a few degrees from its original position on the wheel.
Use Centrimatics. These are sandwiched between the wheel and the hub on the steer and tag and between the two wheels on the drive. They have a heavy media that is free to rotate within an outer ring on the devices. The media moves within the ring to counteract the forces that would otherwise have the tire out of balance. These balancing devices can cost $180 or more per axle so they are not cheap, but they do work well.
The bag you refer to is loose balancing media and depending on brand it can look like play box sand or BB’s. Instead of being contained within a ring like Centrimatics, the media is thrown into the tire when it is being mounted and the media moves freely to keep the wheels and tires balanced. At about $10 to $15 per wheel balancing media is not very expensive.
I used Equal, one of the loose brands of balancing media and it does work very well. I use Centrimatics now because the coach came equipped with them and they also work very well. If my coach did not already have Centrimatics I would probably be using Equal because I had great success with it for years and years and it is the most economical for our use of the coach.

Just put Equal in our steers and tags, smooth as glass and 10 per.

Another option are Balance Masters. They are very simular to Centramatics but use mercury as the balancing medium. I’ve had them on both of my busses and like them a lot. They are often discounted at trade and RV shows.
