For completeness to the history add that Prevost Stuff and POG were started by Jeff Raymond who then sold out to Jim Skiff.

    Just sayin, JIM

Actually a fellow by the name of Joe B. (I can’t remember the exact spelling) created P-Stuff. Jeff Raymond bought that site from Joe when Joe took time off to fight cancer. Jeff was the one who conceived of POG and he later sold to Jim Skiff.

There are a lot of folks on this site and POG who were active participants on the free P-stuff forum that was eventually shut down by Jeff, including if I am correct JDUB, Loc, Ed Roelle, Mango, Tom, myself, and many others I cannot remember.

Speaking of Mango, I had the pleasure of catching his interview on Fox News a while back regarding his “adult” restaurant…..and no, it’s not what you’re thinking…..

I run a website and so Jaime and I have a few things in common. I, too, have paid advertisers plus paid memberships. Of our 500,000 members, however, only about 2% of them are paid members.

Still, the 2% plus the advertisers pay all of our costs, and we make a decent profit.

I gave up on censorsing in most areas, except for hate speech and porn. Sure, an occasional poster will disparage one of our advertisers, and the worst thing, I’ve found, is to draw attent to them.

Once in a great while an advertiser will write me to ask that I change something that misrepresents them. I will generally comply with such a request, in a fair way.

Many advertisers are wise to believe in the old saying “any press is good press”, and don’t mind their name being mentioned.

I also don’t care if our users mention other products from would-be advertisers thereby giving them a free plug. This, if anything, will help me sell that advertiser.

My site has a lot of competitors. I don’t get upset when any of them are mentioned. I produce a quality product and that’s all it takes to keep my customers coming back.

I get it that the audience of potential Prevost owners is a couple of orders of magnitude less than my ham radio site, and, that every eyeball and every advertising dollar is precious. Protectionism, however, is not a wining strategy, in this or any small market. It’s not the way the internet works.

    Jon

For history, the Joe B your talking about was “Grizz” on P-Stuff. His last name did begin with “B”. I won’t spell it out here, but I do know.

OP, you may still be able to contest payment through your credit card. It’s something to think about…
