  • CC Glass Dash to SilverLeaf

Posted by Kim on June 13, 2023 at 5:23 pm

The glass dash went out in traffic on our way home from our latest trip. After much reading I located a panel beside the driver’s seat with 3 micro fuses and the center (5 amp) was blown. Replaced it and it blew immediately. After much reading I suspect it could be the dimverter although I’m not certain of anything.

We’re leaning toward changing to SilverLeaf rather than chasing problems on 24 year old equipment.

Does anyone have experience with the change?

Shop recommendations? We live in SC.

Thoughts on if the current issue might cause an issue with the new dash?

For now we’re using a Scan Gauge to monitor vital information while we’re addressing much deferred maintenance; tires, shocks, brakes, hoses… Oh what fun!

That is what we have in our 97 CC. The original CC glass panel was replaced with a Silverleaf unit and works just fine. I think Martin Perlot (son of Safari motorhome founder and SMC CEO Matt Perlot) designed the one for CC but I am not sure of that. Martin then founded Silverleaf which was recently sold to one of the large RV manufacturers. The Silverleaf office was near Eugene, OR, so was convenient for us but not so for you on the right coast.

I am considering BlueFire as an interim solution. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

In January of 2020 we had a similar failure to what you describe. Black dash and blown 5 amp fuse. i traced the short to the dimverter board behind the dash. The main component on the dimverter board was manufactured by Endicott Research Group. Endicott had a replacement part (R202243 – 10 lamp dc to ac inverter) as the original part had been superceded. After receiving it I desoldered the old one and soldered in the new one. We have driven about 25,000 miles since then and the dash display has worked perfectly.

My electronic dash went out and having a hard time to get it repaired and ordered a Silver Leaf dash but haven’t been able to get a firm delivery date of when I can expect it. Did you get your dash fixed and any information would be appreciated
