  • CC bus air

    Help….recently decided to throw some time/$$$ into our CC bus air system. The closest venue in Branson is on top of it,to a point,till now. They are having an electrical problem and need some schematic back up to ensure I don’t spend all my money there instead of the Branson Rally this fall. (haha I think?)

    So,my coach does not have the Prevost factory air (small Tecumseh compressor).It has a single compressor installed over the Generator on the Psgr side of the engine compartment. It is not gettilng power (was but suddenly now that they are done with hose / parts replacement and ready to finish) for the compressor. Trying to trace the path, they feel confident that with a schematic they can do this. I know I don’ want to leave without it working in this weather and of course, going somewhere else means a start over from square one. Does anyone have privy to a schematic for this era bus, 1990? I am told by other CC owners,that CC used a single compressor system as well as the dual compressor system.Hopefully I can come up with a single system schematic soon. They are in their busy season (Branson!) with work time becoming a priority.It is not my first visit here and I feel confident of their ability. Hope is what I have . I am expecting a call from CCI tomarrow A.M.

    Rodger ain’t nothing like that OTR air. Have the factory in my 91 front and center and it’s heaven in this 100 + degree heat down here in Texas. Hope somebody chimes in. Good Luck!

    Rodger,

    I’m guessing my 99 is different than yours. On mine there are two dash switches for the two evaporator fans. Either will engage the clutch. I also have at least two pressure switches that control the compressor for protection. And finally, i think there is a protection relay that makes sure the fans are running. Okay, not finally, I think the CC ECC is in the middle of all of this. If you don’t find a schematic, call CC. They might have it. If not, see if the wire number can be found at the ECC and trace it from there. BTW, I’m assuming your vintage has the main electrical panel in bay 1.

    Rodger,

    There should be a delay relay in the rear run box above the engine for the dash air and maybe there is a relay for the CC coach air compressor as well.

    thanx all for what you’re able to come up with so far.I have a schematic sent by one of “US” CC’s but it is very hard to read (blurred) ,so I am reaching out to CCI with $$$ to see what they may come up with.This is a good example for all of us with coach’ nearly as old as Jon , but, this will become my search for complete schematics. I have a good set of CC instructions for the bus,but lacking many of the schematic.

    Rodger,

    The harsh reality is I bet even newer coaches are lacking detailed schematics. Many manufacturers and I’m not just saying converters feel their schematics are proprietary and they really are. Due to that fact, some decide they want to fully protect their designs and future service revenue, so they keep them away from owners. This is a place where Prevost gets a big pat on the back as they make all of their schematics available online.

    In fact, I just referenced Prevost schematics the other night. I wanted to replace all relays associated with the engine fan circuit and discovered 2 different types installed and they had 2 different amp ratings. The schematice showed all to be the same type and that the circuit breakers was 6A. The correct ones should have the diode. Two had the diode and were rated at 30/40A, one didn’t have the diode and was rated at 20A, and the new ones from Prevost were rated at 40A and had a resistor instead of a diode. The ones that are most widely used are 30/40A relays with the diode. I did some research and discovered the amperage ratings labelled on the 30/40A ones was at 12V even though they are 24V relays, which seems a bit unusual. I also discovered that the current ratings on most relays of this type is different between the unenergized and energized relay contacts, again seemingly a bit weird. The bottom line is that I ordered what I know to be correct based on the schematic. FWIW, the use of a diode or resistor in a relay is for circuit protection. I assume the new ones from Prevost are resistor based because newer coaches switched to resistor based ones and that they may be just as effective as diode based ones (assumptions on my part).

    Gil is right about some converters not sharing design information. But some coaches which have no formal drawings available really need owners to create some type of drawing or schematic. If owner shared this it would be helpful.

    Even if the information an owner develops lists the components and any model or part numbers the help that would provide would be significant.

    What about the guy that bought all the schematics from CC in the action, didn ‘t he do this so info would be avalable? Is he easy to get ahold of and how helpful is he? Miles I think he name was. Can you contact him he may be on here or the POG site.

    Hey Roger, I have a complete set of all the electrical drawings for my CC, a 1998 with conversion done in 99.

    I met you down at Xtreme Paint and Graphics when Nick Hessler was working on my coach. He can most likely help you with this.

    On my coach you have one of the controller cards in the ECC that controlls all the operations of the CC OTR air.

    You also have two switches mounted in the compressors hoses at the compressor that are a high pressure safety switch and one which is a low pressure switch. If neither of these two are closed or open (not sure which) the compressor will not run.

    I will go get my drawings and let you know which card in the ECC cabinet controlls the CC OTR ac.

    It’s a chance our two vintages are the same electrically.

    The guy that bought all the CC stuff is Miles Circo (not sure if I spelled his last name correctly) mcirco@hughes.net He was on POG’s site a while back when I was still using it.

    I’ll get back to you on the card number in the ECC, if they are the same number that may tell us the wiring is the same.

    I went and got my drawings and the OTR card is number 16 in the ECC cabinet. It has 4 ATC type fuses on it. Ck all the fuses

    Power to the controll card comes from wire (#34, 16 ga. Yellow) into the card and the power from the controll card to the AC clutch is wire (#96, 12 ga. Black)

    Good to know you have the drawings. I have a set, although not complete. In fact, I tried to see which board controls the curb side lights but didn’t have that data. I noticed my driver’s side curb side lights were on but neither of the interior switches was green and neither would turn them off. The next day all was back to normal, at least for now.

    Some day I want to rip out the ECC and upgrade it to the Intellect or Crestron system or simply make my own. It’s not high on the list, but it’s on the list.

    hey Gil, every so often when you run into unusual happenings, just push the button labeled Domestic battery Disconnect wait a few seconds and push it again to turn everything back on and see if that helps.

    Charles, that’s exactly what I do. I really wish I could leave the ECC deenegized when it’s stored at the house, but I can’t. I run one AC to keep the temps from getting too hot and to dehumidify the coach. The thermostat for the airs needs house 12V.

    Thank you ,one and all, (esp Mr Brown). I talked with CCI today and for a few (Lew Bucks),$$$ coin of the realm,they dug up listing of wires,locations, and what they do and sent to me The biggie thingie is,I do not have a mother board, as inside forward wall of first bay.I have to dig out my Inverter and access my DC breaker array which will begin tomarrow ,I hope. If I can figer out how to download the files,I have scanned them into my computer and will lovingly oops thats willingly post them here or to anyones Email. 17 pages PDF format. I will let all know, even though,I think I have one of the Oldest coaches on PC, We like it.
