Carrying a Spare Tire
Thought I would put one of the takeoff tires into bumper compartment. It would not fit as the electric actuator reduced the space laterally for the compartment. Tire was at least 3 to 4 inches wider than space available. How many carry a spare and where do you carry it?

No spare. In our first coach I carried a spare in the first bay with a rim polished on both sides so it could go in any position. For 10 years it aged and took up space.
In the ensuing years I had 2 tires need replacement while on the road. Neither had failed but both were road hazard cuts deep enough to make me want to stop driving until they were replaced. Of course in both cases at the time our size tires were not common, so in both cases the tire that was replaced was put on the tag and a tire of the right size was put on the steer. In both cases the damaged tire was a steer tire.
Now there is no question about a spare. With 315 and 365 tires I am not going to ever waste the amount of space they would take up, but instead will use the Michelin 911 program.
Just take care of your tires, replace them before they age out, never run low pressure, and you will be OK.

Just installed eight new tires thru NTCS David Ward. When they tok off the ties there was a nail in one of the tires.
For the new tires I have a brand new Pressure Pro system from Tom, (he said he would pay you a commission as I bought because of PC).
I guess I am ready for the best as I have the NTCS warranty and as you indicated Michelin Roadside as part of my tire purchase.

If my memory serves me about tire service on the road..one thing stands out. Access to a 365 Michelin.
Finding a tire was tough part. There was a lot of posting on parking a tire in some members garage.
Then comes getting the tire to bus location.
Another is 365 fitting into a vehicle…

In the Michelin Advantage program Michelin has made 365 tires (and 315) readily available because they have a national contract with a bus company and the tires and service have to be available.
I believe the availability issue has been resolved.
If you call 1-800-TIRE911 and you bought tires through a Michelin Advantage plan you are in their system and a service truck with your size tires will be dispatched.

Most Prevost owners carry their spare tire in their wallet. That way they get a recent date code.
Jon says there are something like 4,000 to 4,500 PC members. That’s represents … say 1,500 to 2,500 coaches being used.
Rarely if ever does someone post they needed a tire replaced on the road. I’m sure it does happen. But it’s pretty rare.

We used to carry a spare 315 behind the front bumper of the Millennium. In 12 years, we never needed it, but it was nice to have in case. We carry a 365 in the driver’s side front bay of the Marathon. It just barely fits (and I mean just barely). I hope to never need it but I have it if needed. I view the 315’s as easier to find on the road than the 365’s or I would swap the 365 out for a 315.
I had a friend who called Michelin’s 911 number this summer looking for a 365. He was told 2 weeks. He was able to find on in Michigan close to his location.

Loc, I am sorry your friend was told 2 weeks, which is not consistent with what we have been told about availability as a result of their contract with a national bus service.
I will pass this information along when we meet with Michelin at the show.
As a related matter several years ago we had multiple posts and knew of owners who could not get needed 365 tires. The excuse was there were none in the system. But a year or two after that owners buying new tires were getting 365’s with date codes prior to when we were told there were none in the system. It was clear there were plenty in the system but that Prevost conversion owners were far down the list of who were deemed to be important buyers so until it was clear a new run was finished and available, only then were the older tires released from inventory.
Tom and I are finding it difficult to be Michelin customers and I plan to relate our concerns again. Last year at the Michelin seminar Mikee did an excellent job of expressing some of the frustrations including failure of the our rib on 365 tires.

Try to find a 12R 22.5 on a moments notice! 911 or not, it unlikely that you will find them should you need one in an emergency!

We have never had a common size tire on our coaches. None of the three sizes, 120, 315, or 365 were readily available. A 315 might be more common today, but good luck finding the others.

It is my understanding, and Jon may have additional/different information, but the tags 365 can be used as spares for the front and put a 315 on the tag. Yes, that means buying a 315 you don’t really need.

Sorry Roy. But you are part right.
At one time it was discussed that you could mount a 315 on the 365 wheel, but Michelin frowns on that.
Yes the tag is a suitable replacement for a steer 365, but if you do that make sure the tire service company brings a suitable tire for the tag (a 315 is a good choice) but it has to be mounted on a 9″ wide wheel and the wheel has to be for hub centering.
Make sure you have room in the bay for the 365 wheel or plan on putting it in the living room for the trip home.

You can mount a 315 on the same wheel as a 365…Once again it is meant as a emergency option only..

Not according to Michelin and they get a little excited when that is mentioned. They are the ones who have stated emphatically don’t do it, but instead get a replacement tire mounted on an old steel wheel suitable for the tire size.
I know mounting a 315 on the 365 wheel has been done, but maybe out of an abundance of caution Michelin is clearly opposed to that.
