… Sunset Isle.

Forget about Ho-Hum, much too small and right on the road.

Carrabelle Beach is set back from the road but is tight to maneuver a bus and difficult to park a bus.

We have been there once a couple of years ago. It is a nice place … but.

Sunset Isle, however, is a very nice park and the management bends over backwards to make you feel at home.

Here is my report on RV Park Reviews.

There are only a few RV parks to choose from when you drive up to and through the FL Panhandle on the scenic route on Rt. 98. We found Sunset Isle by chance when we were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights. This RV park was not really meant to be because it is quite obvious that this was supposed to be a gated residential community once you enter the property and drive past the gate house. Wide brick pavered roads which now lead you to 27 full hookup RV sites. When we called to make our reservation and told them about our 45′ RV, they were hesitant, stating they only had 2 sites large enough for us. Once we were on location and walked the park, we found that all but 1 site would easily accommodate a 45′. Our site was deep and wide enough to park our toad in front of the bus and our trailer right next to the bus. This is a very quiet park located adjacent to the Carrabelle River on Timber Island (about 1 mile off of Rt. 98). Everything is clean and well taken care of by the onsite manager. He also was kind enough to use his pickup truck to help with parking our trailer which had a problem with the dropleg. This RV park has a HUGE swimming pool. We had been to a 700 sites RV campground recently and their pool was less than half of the pool they have at Sunset Isle for 27 sites. While this is certainly a pool which was meant for a residential community, RV’ers do now benefit from it. There is a riverfront marina and a waterfront restaurant just a few steps away from the park. We checked out the marina which is large enough for large fishing boats. We did not try the restaurant but were told that it offers a good selection of fresh seafood. Sunset Isle is a hidden pearl and well worth a visit. We will visit here again and recommend this resort to our friends, too. We camped at Sunset Isle RV & Yacht in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you want to go to the beach, then take a ride out to St. George Island, home of the 2 State parks. It takes about 30 minutes to get there by car and you access the island via a 7 miles long bridge (Bryant Patton Bridge / Rt. 300).
