Cargo Door Strut in Aqua Hot Compartment
Had a tip break off one of the struts for this compartment on the H3.
Figured I would just replace the whole strut and ball ends. Save the rest of this one for parts
Cant find a replacement on line anywhere. Anyone know where to get one or a source to cross reference?
Info imprinted on the removed strut reads:

I bought mine from Prevost. They have them. PITA to change without a homemade tool to release the old Ball/rod end towards the inside of the bus.

What kind of a homemade tool? I sure would like to have one.

I just did 4 on mine and got them at Prevost. You need 4′ arms…..

I posted a picture of it on here a while back. Basically, it is an awning pull rod, that is slightly bent, and tapered on the end of it. I did that with a vise, then ground it to a point, so you can reach in there to release the clips on the rod end of the old struts, or gas shocks.
That’s the hardest thing to do, once you get those off, the new ones will just slip on. Then to get the end on the door, the strut may appear a little long, so I loosened the ball stud on the bracket to give it a little extra length, slipped it on, and then tightened the ball stud back up.

Called prevost this morning and set up my account.
The guy that helped me knew the P/N Immediately so that tells me this is a common part to fail. Strut was 27.89 each with free shipping so that was a pleasent surprize.
I did luck out though. The tip that broke was on the end that attached to the bus. When it broke, it did so in pieces and literally fell off the ball.
