Cape Cod RV parks and Gulf Shores Alabama
Hello fellow PCers… we are looking to travel north in the Royale around mid to late September, Can anyone recommend a nice campground on the Cape where we could make day trips to Boston, the Cape, and surrounding areas?
We are also wanting to go to the Redneck Riviera just after Christmas, the Gulf Shores or Orange beach area of Alabama if anyone has recommendations. I have looked at the PC map… but would like some imput please.
Most of you don’t know me, in fact the only one is Chief Jon, who spent many countless hours on the phone, in person, and emails to not only teach me about Prevosts, but find the bus he knew I would buy. We have had the 97 Royale for over 3 years now and could not be happier thanks to Jon, and our friend whom I bought the bus from, Peter Campbell. Peter and I became very good friends before and after the sale, and still cannot get over his death. I was traveling seeing customers when the tragic event happened, and was in Knoxville TN the day before his death. We talked monthly on the phone and kind of surprised he did not let me know he would be in TN…. who really knows. I was in Nashville Tn on the March 23rd, and after having customers out for the evening checked my Facebook and saw where Peters wife, Trina, had posted of his passing. Sitting on the bus late night by myself, the news was very upsetting and unsettling in some ways, being this was HIS bus at one time….I can assure you… he was on the bus with me that night.i know alot of you knew, or knew of Peter, and what a fine man he was. Peter would call out of the blue asking how the bus was running, how is this, how is that, and knowing this bus is in tip top shape from all of his hard work on it. Sorry to get long winded, but I sure do miss my ole bud, and am sure you all miss him, and his postings on PC. God bless, safe driving, and happy trails.

I feel your pain Dave, your bus was my bus before I sold it to Peter.

I would suggest Bella Terra in Foley, AL, that’s where we have our annual Oysterfest in AprIl.

We share your sentiments for Peter, absolutley one of a kind.
We live in Walpole Mass. Our favorite spot for the Cape is actually right on the canal before you go over the
bridge. We love to go to Scusset Beach State reservation. Here is a link for reservations.

Another vote for Bella Terra in Foley, AL. Close enough to the beach, but not as much salt air & corrosion to deal with. We have spent a good bit of the last two years there. If you are looking at this year, you need to call Courtney or Katie as soon as possible – they fill up way early for monthly/winter rentals. If they ask the age of your coach, tell ’em it’s a Prevost…it’s ageless!! Tell them that Mike & Karen Davis said hi…I’m sure they’ll only charge you an extra 50% or so! 😉

And if the coach age is questioned let them know you are with Prevost Community. Great place and nice folks at Bella Terra.

John, I visited the link for the state park, seems all sites are 40ft long…do you have any problem with 45ft bus? any site # recomendations….Thanks Victor

We are going to Bella Terra this weekend for the 4th. I had to send them a pic of our coach and they approved it no problem. Very nice people on the phone and seemed very accomodating.

Bella Terra has been very good about accomodating us at our Oysterfest and likely will not refuse any Prevost Community member an opportunity to visit their resort. But, just asking for a photo is a strong hint of potential discrimination and I don’t want there to be any discrimination of any sort for any reason. I still cannot believe there is a justification for using a coach age as as a filter to determine who is fit to visit a resort.
Knowing Dave and the potential he might have for loud parties, that might be a concern.

Bella Terra is certainly very nice and has fine amenities.
As another consideration, we have stayed at Terry Cove RV Resort in Orange Beach several times located closer to Gulf Shores. You can look it up on the internet.
Terry Cove is a place where all of the sites are privately owned. It is a beautiful palm tree lined gated / exclusive RV community. There are 47 sites and the largest number of coaches we have seen there at any one time is probably 20. There are two excellent pools and other amenities….but not a lot of interaction with the other resident coaches.
It is a choice to be in less activity and closer to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Right down the street is Ship Harbor’s Grill which may be the finest eating place in the Orange Beach area.
Also down the same street is Heritage RV Park which I do not recommend.
If interested after looking at some of the photos, there are private offerings by some of the residents on the internet.

Again, Bella Terra is very nice but if they give you flack over the age of a coach….. Terry Cove is our first choice.

We lived in New Orleans for 15 years and Gulf Shores/Orange Beach was our go to place on a regular basis. We owned a condo in Orange Beach until it got wiped out by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Up until last year, that part of the Gulf Coast was still one of our stops on a regular basis, first in a condo and then with our coach.
Then Diane Byrd turned the PC on to Camp Gulf in Destin. Right on the beach. As much as we love Orange Beach, we’re spoiled by not being directly on the beach. Destin’s Camp Gulf is our new go to place, right on the beach. Not cheap when you’re on the front row on the beach, but it’s something special…at least for us. Then we follow up immediately with a 4 hour trip to the French Quarter Resort and pig out for a week. And wash the salt off the coach.

If any campground ask me the year model of my coach, I always tell them a 2010, they don’t have a clue what the difference is from year to year anyway. Nobody has ever asked for proof of registration.

Mr Jon….. I do kinda resemble that remark, but, don’t want them to ban the entire PC crew. I might better find a homeless shelter to stay.

Hey Mr Tom… yes. i knew that you were the fellow that sold the bus to Peter, and he spoke very highly of you and the bus. We have been very happy with the Breeze and have put 38,000 miles on her since March of 2014.. being we both are still working full time, I guess that is not too bad. I have just prepped my small trucking company for sale if you know of anyone interested…long haul/short haul…. average $ 2.43 cpm the first quarter on dry vans. Mr Tom, I also heard you as many others here were in the trucking biz. Anyway, thank you for saying hey.

Our coach is a 40 footer. We are going to a rally at Scussett over 4th of July. We will see if we can get
site numbers of any appropriate sites for a 45 footer. We are going with a local FMCA chapter group and are
staying on the “Rally Field”. The “Rally Field” has no hook ups for electric, but does have water available.
There is also a dump station on the park property three minutes from the field. There is usually a local group
using the rally field on most weekends. We have asked and been welcomed by several different groups that
have allowed us to join in on their weekends.
My mother-in law, a fellow Prevost Community member, has room on her property in walpole Mass, if someone
is in need of a stop over point for a few days. We had six coaches over a few weeks ago for an informal
camping weekend in her back yard.
Let us know if you’ll be in the area, we would love to get to meet more members.
There is also a campground in Foxboro Mass called Normandy farms. They have plenty of sites that can
accomadate a 45 footer. We have met other Prevost Community members there. They are with in
