Can’t stop the Generator from inside
We have a 15kw Onan diesel in our bus, original , has about 4200 hrs, runs well, starts fast, I believe good unit but noisy as heck….No to the problem I have:
I can not Stop the Generator from inside the coach. The
Stop, flip momentary switch is doing nothing, dash or bedroom. When pushed, I can see a slight dimming of interior lights so it is “trying” to do something or the wiring is compromised somewhere.
The
previous owner wired a momentary switch in the Gen compartment, right
into the control box and brought it over to the front next to the left
wall, and when pushed ( proabaly grounding) the genset stops. Next time you want Gen power, it can be started from inside with no problem but I have to open the compartment door and push the switch to stop it.
I can not see anything in the control box until I pull all the stuff from the other end of the compartment ( chest with drawers, blower etc…..that will give me a way to see everything on the back of that unit….Very tight, can’t fit see even with the Gen out in the outmost position on the slide.
The pair of wires runs into the top control box and connects to something I can’t see. Don’t have any documentation on this Generator so if anybody has diagrams, service documentation etc. please let me know and I would pay to have copies made.
So…I am thinking I may have a grounding issue, or something that has to do with the Generator Shut Down Control board that shuts down the genset if it overheats, low oil pressure etc.
I woulkd like to revert this hacked Stop system in the Gen bay and restore proper inside switch functionality. as well as upgrading the Inverter from the old Heart Interface to a Magnum MS2812 with ARC50 and Automatic Generator Start…..so, the functionality of the switches is important to wire easier the AGS module.
Does anybody have any advice ?
I thought Nick Hessler ( CC Prevost Tech) got back into the game and was supposed to help me with this and he decided to take a full time job doing something else and will not do service assistance anymore….So, I have to figure it out.
