I am not aware of any problems from partial slide extension.

But I also don’t know if the slide seal re-inflates once movement of the slide stops. The pins are not supposed to engage until the slide is fully retracted.

Walt, you might want to hear from George and Corey before you extend your slide at a truckstop. I believe they did and George ended up outside at 3am chasing down a trucker in his underwear after he had hit his slide.

We do LOVES often overnight and never put out our slides for that reason.

FWIW I will never extend a slide in a rest area or truck stop or anywhere the slide is not protected from moving vehicles.

That means if I cannot get an end spot where the driver’s side of the coach is along a curb or is somehow protected against moving traffic the slides will not go out. Spaces are not made for coaches with slides.

Yes, I’ve heard of many a trucker hitting slides. That’s partly why I wanted to know if putting it out just a little bit was ok. Many times I’ll be parked next to a tree or somewhere you could put it out a little bit just maybe not all the way. Or even parked along the edge at a Walmart. I also figure just a little extend might bring less attention too.

We try try to park at Flying Js as much as possible since a lot of them have RV spots in the front area so you don’t have to go back with the trucks. We only stay elsewhere if we can’t get a good Flying J. if I end up in the back we don’t even think about the slides.

It was at the Flying J in Barstow I saw an entertainer bus do this. That one has a huge front RV area. I suspect it’s a usual hangout for entertainer busses. I see them there every time.

On our Marathon the Valid slides will not inflate the air seal unless the slide is all the way in or out. So in my case this wouldn’t be an option.

When we overnight in a rest stop We keep them in for all the reasons above plus a quick roll out in the AM and mos tof the time my crew is still sleeping…
