After three days and nearly 800 miles, we made it to Parliament in Clearwater. I must say that this bus is impressive. It’s three years younger than I am and in much better shape! No tools were required! Okay, the windshield wiper motors need to be changed from air to electric and the odometer was a bit eratic, but otherwise, no issues and a very nice trip.
This bus has separate diesel tanks for the engine and generator. The generator tank has no guage (yet) and it will take a while to figure out when to fill up. I had a stroke of luck that while refuling the main tank, the generator decided to stop. While I would have preferred not to run the generator tank to empty, how lucky was it to run out of fuel while I was at a Love’s? The engine is getting around 11 miles per gallon. I’m guessing the gen is pulling around 1/2 gallons per hour.
The ride is impressive and its sweet spot is between 60mph – 65mph. There’s little if any push when passing or being passed by large trucks…very stable on the road. I can only guess the rounded shape of the roof and rear are the positive attributes to the way it cuts through the wind. I did learn that both car and truck drivers were very polite on the road and always made space when passing or merging.
Through my search, I never thought I’d end up with a 34′ coach and definitely not one that’s almost as old as me! I’ll add that considering there’s no slides the layout on this bus is very manageable for two people. Considering that nearly five of those feet are in the baggage compartment and a few more in the engine bay, it’s even more amazing that it’s comfortable on the inside.
The only noise I noticed was from the mirror placement and I’m planning on moving them forward…that will also assist with visibility.
If I had a dollar for every time someone would take a photo, I’d have at least $78! That will be a start to the upgrades I’ll have performed over the next few weeks getting it prepared for the Florida great weather season!
My challenge now is attempting to figure out what size vehicle I can pull behind this bus. Input welcomed!

That GMC Eleganza article is very cool. We used to have one. Our only motor home that appreciated over the years.

As I have posted many times, I have loved all of my Prevost’s. But I still have my ’77’ GMC 26 footer. It was way ahead of its time with front wheel drive, air bags and 50V Power cord. I still get a kick out of driving it, and to be honest, I get a whole lot more looks and comments when driving it than when in my Prevost. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

Would this Flx possibly have a Cummins diesel? If so did you purchase it from a guy named Dave, who used to reside in Nash County, NC? I saw his bus for sale in SC a while back. I’ve had the privilege to visit with Dave and Carol during SE Busnut Rallies at the former KOA in Wade, NC. Quite the nice Flx, and as Jon would say, “Classic” bus.
So come on aboard and attend some get togethers. We have NoRally Rallies. That just means we decide to get together for a fun time without a set agenda. Lots of libations and food too.

Yes, this is the same bus. Dave and Carol did the restore and sold it three years ago to Jim (in the video). The restoration took 2.5 years and they kept it for a total of ten years.
I’ve been in contact with Dave and Carol and they have been very helpful!
I guess you can call this a “Nash” bus as it was restored in Nash, sold to guy in Nashville and then sold to a guy who’s originally from Nashville!
