campgrounds around yellowstone
Hi gang, well Im still plugging away at the itenerary for this summers trip and I have been checking out the yellowstone area . I think I will get the best answers from folks that have been there in prevosts rather than the plastic coaches so if anyone has suggestions For that area I would love to hear them. I dont necessarily need to be right in the park.
I will probably be looking for more help as we get further east but for now any help for the yellowstone area would be greatly appreciated. -

Grizzly in W. Yellowstone is the best. DO NOT stay at the KOA west of there a few miles. We made the mistake of going there in 2010 and it is not a good place for big rigs. The roads are narrow, way too many trees that hang over the roads, and sites that are not level. Mgt. of the place also was not good.
Grizzly is right in town, and much better – nicer. Go there if you can.

Totally agree on Grizzly RV Resort in West Yellowstone as the #1 place to stay. We normally spend a couple of nights in Cody. We like driving the Cheif Joseph Highway in our toad, dinner and great music at Cassies, and the museum. We then head over to Grizzly and explore the park. We normally head down to Jackson for several nights before leaving the area.

Ditto on Grizzly in West Yellowstone. Nice park and convenient to the park.

It’s very difficult (well, time consuming….lots of miles) to see all of Yellowstone from one location. Grizzly in W. Yellowstone is an excellent location but you are 14 miles from the intersection of the top and bottom loops making travel to any “sight” a long drive. However, there really aren’t many other choices unless you want to do some dry camping as well.

Red I will pay for fuel if you are willing to work at ranch on your way by, we have 4 miles of 4 wire fence to build should not take long I think we can put in one mile of posts a day then one mile of wire in two days … LOL!!!!!

Hey Peter I will have to check with Patti to see if she will be up to all that work but Im not holding out much hope. You DID say 4 miles didnt you ! Naw Im not so sure the old girl could do it. Besides which, you scared me with all that ” WE” stuff.

Last Fall while travelling with 3 other Prevosts (mine made 4) we travelled throught the Grand Tetons and on through Yellowstone exiting out through West Yellowstone heading to Polson Mt. It is difficult to find an RV Park that can handle 4 Prevost with one day notice – but we lucked out and found an unconventional place to stay and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the stay, food, and hospitality
The name of the Place: Blue Moon Saloon Cafe, Cabin Rental, RV Park, and Casino, 3793 US Hwy 287N, Cameron, Montana. We stayed for one night only, but the food was GREAT, drinks in the bar (we filled it up and moved to the dinning room) were great, The owner who answered the phone when I called for a reservation, provided live entertainment and locals danced the night away. The only drawback was 30 amp service on my site, which was no problem with the comfortable night time air temps.
if you do drive by it –as we did -you can turn around at the weigh station and easily back to it. Easy get in and out.
If you google Cameron Mt, the picture of a wooden two story frame structure-th at is it.
The casino is two slot machines!we had a great time.
