Any campground suggestions for Austin, TX. Thanks in advance.

We go to Dripping Springs alot and friends stay at a couple camp grounds north and south of the city right off 35. Look on Austin RV parks and if you go during spring break or festival times you will not get in.
There are alot of ma and pop places around Austin but be cautious.
I park at my buddys shop but when I did have to hunt a place it was frustrating.

We just drove south through Austin on I-35. Its South by Southwest Festival. Ramps closed, streets closed, lots going on.
We’re in New Braunfels just south of Austin at Hill Country RV Resort and Cottages. Nice campground. Blacktop streets, gravel pads, 50amp seems reliable and when I dumped nothing came back up. Easy access to I-35. Will be putting on the PC map (as I do with ALL the places we stay at).

We have stayed at several in the Austin area.
The nicest and you will know that by their price is La Hacienda close to Lake Travis. It is a top notch park but expensive and not as convenient to town if you are doing things downtown.
We stayed a couple of weeks ago at Oak Forest RV Park on the east side of Austin. Paved sites and roads and it can be a little tight getting into your site (you will likely have to unhook). It is a nice park and there is decent space between you and your neighbor. We will use this park again.
McKinney Falls State Park is on the east side and much more a true camping experience but hard to get a spot without advance planning. You are out in the woods even though you are close to town. We like this park but it is hard to find something on the weekends or at the last minute.
Lone Star RV Park is right off of I-35 and had lots of road noise when we stayed there. Another negative is that it was all gravel (they may have paved it by now). Convenient but not our favorite.

We have stayed at the River Ranch Rv Resort there in New Braunfels several times. Noisy as I35 is right there but get a spot on the river and nice. Heck if in Austin drive out further West (Hwy 71) and go down to Pace Bend Park on Lake Travis nice and peaceful. Drive in first and check the overhang as there are trees on some spots hanging low. Used to have a place close to the park on Bee Creek Road down the hill from Willie Nelsons place.

We liked New Braunfels. Make sure you spend some time in Gruene (pronounced “Green”). Ahead of your visit, watch the live entertain in Gruene and New Braunfels … they have lots of it. Krause’s Cafe is also an interesting place. If you sniff and snort around, you’ll find quite a few things to do.
If you’re a gearhead, check the schedule at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). There might be an interesting race for you to attend. I think COTA is very nice, eventhough the Texas climate is already taking its toll.
