Calling all Webasto Experts
Here in Sedona AZ and it got down to 29 last night. My Webasto seems to have a problem wanting to start the second time. If I set the controls to a temp of 65 and turn it on it starts and runs then the burner turns off and as the coolant get cool the burner will not start again unless I shut the system down and start over. Any ideas out there? I have the webasto set up with four area to call for heat (water bay, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen/living room). I have SMX controllers in all areas except the water bay.

I’ve not had that problem, but sounds like it’s not sensing the coolant temperature and firing again. Other than cleaning the photo cell, adjusting the contacts and making sure the igniter is working, I can’t help you much. I would pull the connectors from the brain box and make sure they are OK and not loose.
Since it fires and runs, but fails to restart when the coolant temp calls for fire, it could be a brain box problem. If there is anyone else near you, just change out the brain box with another and see if that does the trick. We’ve done that before and found the computer box was bad and they are not cheap.

You might consider looking at the temperature limiter. It is one of the devices mounted on the Wabasto heating drum. It looks like a thermostat. With the symptoms of starting once, then needing to cycle power to restart.

I have 100’000 btu webasto that is leaking fuel when operating. This is obviously not good and potentially dangers situation. I need to find the leak and repair it. The problem being is I am unable to determine the source of the fuel leak as it is internal and then dripping out of the area of the. Nozzle and igniter. I can not observe the leak while operating because the fuel nozzle is spraying and the igniter is firing. I talked to Troy at liberty he stated I needed a webcasts tester He has one but I am 700 plus miles away and hopefully find someone closer with the equipment to test and repair.
Any suggestions?

Roger except for the fireing of the noosle you can apply 12 volt power to the differnt compoenets and see if they work. Look at the manual and as to the function from the brain box apply power to that terminal. I.E. pump termial connect 12volts. if it run it is okay. That is all the tester box does.

I have found the leaks at the fuel pump, banjo fitting brass washers, hose clamps and old hoses that got brittle. You can unhook the coil wire to keep it from firing. I would clean and dry everything, tighted the clamps, remove the nozzle and using something like a coffee can on the end to catch the fuel, run the unit and look for the leaks. It will time out when the photo cell doesn’t see fire, but you should be able to see where the leak is coming from. You can also just pull the plug from the computer to stop everything.

I had this problem and mine was a bad coil. Coil would work until it heated up and then when the system cooled down and the thermostat called for heat again, everything would start up but no fire. Another concern is if you are leaking fuel you may not be getting enough fuel pressure for the system to fire properly. That fuel nozzle is like an injector, it has to spray a fine mist to work.
