Cabling for new rear camera
Going to be accessing the wire runs in the ceiling to run some Cat5 cables. Review camera is good for now but someday I will update it. What cabling should I run for a future rear view camera while I am running cables through the overhead?

Is Cat5 still relevant? What are you using it for?

I worked with RVCAMS.com and they were able to set us up with a new color camera and the wiring diagrahm to use the existing wiring from our 1988 coach. Your coach being substantially newer should easily be able to find something that will allow you to keep the original wiring.
ETLC upgraded the backup system in our “new to us” 1998 and I suspect there is no new wiring despite a new camera in the back and new Eyoyo monitor in the front. By the way, the Eyoyo setup is pretty cool!

I put a hole new camera set up 2 years and ran all the wires to rear in the plastic conducts underneath pretty quick I installed the Total Vision set up camera monitor and side cameras I never thought I would want side cameras but I like to be able to put all 3 images on monitor at the same time if needed.

Existing cabling may work with a degraded signal, not a good picture with today’s high def cameras and monitors.

I have my WiFi and cell hot spot equipment in the back closet, I am running Cat5 cabling to the front to connect a hard wired WiFi extender in the front. Tried the wireless extenders but had low signal and slow speeds, that why I going to the trouble to hard wire with Cat5 (or Cat6).

What cabling was used with your RVCAMS, RG 58 Coax cable, RCA cable?

Your system looks like what I am leaning towards. Do you know the kind of cabling used for your system? Can the camera be remotely moved up/down?

The cabling used with my new RV Cam setup with the original 8-10 wire bundle. There was NO loss of signal and it was full color with video and sound. Can’t see where HD in a backup camera would be necessary but the clarity was impeccable.
Our new coach has the Eyoyo setup and it’s every bit as good as our old setup. However, I cannot say that it is any better. It does have the ability to zoom up or down and side to side to cover hitch OR long view. The one we had covered hitch to long without having to push any buttons.

You may want to consider CAT6 wiring instead of CAT5. Same size but upgraded wire.

Just bought cat6. Got it laded out all over the floor to test before installing, wife’s not happy

Chuck the system came with all new wire for everything can’t remember size it was in a nice loom, My cable for camera was in ceiling also up in the head liner, no way to replace it, so like I sad it was pretty darn easy to go down below instead.
