Cabinet Separation Repair
Hello All,
We have some cabinets that laminate is separating from the wood. (I guess the laminate) what adhesive do we buy to adhere them back?Or or how do we repair? When the coach was being stored at Millenium, the repaired some but it didn’t hold one week. They used rubber cement?
Anyone that has repaired theirs could you help me out with some advice?

In another life I worked in a factory making custom laminated plastic products. I hope your separation of the laminate and the cabinet is not extensive because the real correct repair process is to strip the old laminate and start again. If the issue is minor you might be able to separate the two surfaces carefully, try to get a high quality contact adhesive on both surfaces in a thin coat. Allow it to dry to the touch, and push the two surfaces together. Hold them with duct tape if necessary and apply a lot of pressure to the surface to make a tight bond.
If you need to open the surfaces up enough to get contact adhesive between them you can use a heat gun, very carefully. Heat will loosen the bond. Act like you are doing surgery. Don’t force anything, Don’t let any debris get between the surfaces. Be very carefull.
When you store your coach be certain you keep the interior cool. That is a relative term. I would not let it get over 90 or 100 degrees, and I think those are very safe limits. Heat is very damaging to a coach interior.

Jon. If its separated a lot. For example our air pocket door the end I’m sure there is dust and stuff under it. How do I clean it before putting adhesive on the back

You really cannot do a good job of cleaning. When we had to make a repair in a spot where something got between the laminate and the core we had to start over, and in most cases ended up sanding the glue off the core so we had a good clean surface to start with.

Is that picture showing laminate or is it mirror? I have had mirror panels come loose and finally got it to adhere with a very thin two sided tape that was from 3m. Tape from home depot or lowes never held. This tape was from a local mirror company very strong. And did not melt mirror finish. Which i did do once on two panels of mirror and had to replace. Seems plastic mirror is more delicate than regular mirror. Hope this helps

The is the end of the air pocket door. Its the part that meets the wall when closed. I guess I thought was laminated mirror based on the thickness and flex?

That tape should be available at any mirror company. Like i said I purchased tape at local stores and did not hold. This product by 3m was excellant. A little hard to use since only about 1/16 thick. As i said i also tried liquid mirror adhesive that held great but will melt the plastic mirror!!

I bought a glue by DIF that was for Laminate, and what nots. And it says it will hold in heat and cold. So we shall see!
