It’s OK Buddy, he has a Marathon so he thinks that pile is considered perfect condition. Kinda looks like that pile you cleaned up at Jeff’s.

The Marathon jealously is quite obvious Fast Freddy. You better take a close look at yours, last time I saw your bus the antenna was bent, crooked and had a pair of underwear hanging off it.

Looks like you went right over where the bat-wing was located. Did you make a round or rectangular aluminium cover?
Heading back to Kansas where I’ll have a barn for this project … but seems like a no-brainer. The harder part will be to bring my antenna controller outside my rear closet to get easy access. But where there’s a will, there’s a way.

I made a cover out of metal same size as the batwing mount and used same screw pattern. The Razor sits over the original, so you can’t see it.
Are you saying your controller is in the closet? My antenna booster was in the closet, but the controller is in the AV cabinet in the bedroom.

I only have one controller for my antenna (to my knowledge), which is in my rear closet compartment with all the other A/V equipment. This controller is the one which “raises/lowers” the antenna and then “rotates” the antenna. I looked at the wiring and it looks like this is “plug & play” wiring into the controller.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about with the booster? If you take a pic it could help me to better identify what you’re talking about.

The booster looks like this Tim. Your batwing coax goes through the booster. To operate the booster, you push the little button and a red light comes on. You have one somewhere, I’m sure. I have eliminated it since not needed anymore.

12v power source for a cigarette plug.

duh. Isn’t that ingenious. I suppose an enterprising and ambitious guy could plug one of those little USB chargers in there and be able to charge a phone or Bluetooth speaker or anything that is USB powered.

Well if Tom’s is like mine, it’s in the rear closet, in a separate compartment behind a piece of fabric velcored to the closet wall. Not really the best for plugging/un-plugging something on a daily basis.

I had to laugh when I saw this post. Arrived at Scaroon Manor last week to dry camp and Claudia said “let’s watch the news.” Ran back to the bath and started cranking the Wineguard and it was just spinning. Ran outside, stood on the picnic bench and all that was on the roof was the little base bracket. I would really like to know when the batwing fell off and hopefully it didn’t hit anyone. Looks like the bolts just rusted. Just ordered a Rayzar.

I have one just like that in the cabinet above the passenger seat that houses the directv, DVD,in motion controls. Handy to have another 12V receptacle. And it even works !Safe travels,

We had Jeff @ ETLC and RV Resort install the new Winegard Rayzar last week when we were there. Sitting in the parking lot at Jeff’s we got 13 channels over the BatWing. After the install we told the Rayzar to search and got 28 channels if I recall correctly. I’ve never done the over the air channel thing much. Lots of stations have -2, -3, -4, etc. or whatever you call it. We used it extensively at Indianapolis over the weekend. First time we’ve ever had TV for four days without significant piztelization on the screen. Smart move, worth the investment.
The controller for the Rayzar was installed in the hole where the device with the 12 volt cigarette lighter was, so I lost that 12 volt source. But knowing there is 12 volts (and probably 120) easily accessable behind there, it should not be a big job to install some powered USB ports if I think I need them.
Next project … replace the ten year old JVC double DIN sized GPS Navigation unit, AM/FM/XM radio, CD/DVD?, USB, Bluetooth player that Josh confirmed has probably failed (there is power to it, but we can’t get it to go on … worked for almost three years).
I like the idea of the GPS naviation system on an iPad … but then what do you do for radio? AM/FM/XM. With the TV right above the unit, I’d like to find a GPS naviation system that plays CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs that has an HDMI out that I can then wire up to the TV … but so far NO cigar. I would like to not have to worry about yet another piece of hardware. When we “looked at” the coach we recall a DVD playing on the TV. But after we bought it we couldn’t find the DVD player; so we need a DVD/Blu-Ray player.
I might start another thread over this issue.
Rayzar is good. We don’t have anyone telling us that its “still up” … STOP! STOP!
