Bus Compressor
Given how critical the Bus’ compressor is for airing up both the brakes & aux side, is there a timeframe for replacing the compressor or, do you just wait till it quits, potentially leaving you stranded?

If it is passing so much oil your normal dryer cartridge change interval has to be shortened you might consider a replacement.
Generally speaking you can identify the issue because the frame of the coach will start to show a coating of oil around where it purges, and when you check the wet tank you start to see oil and water when you previously saw none.
I haven’t heard of any failing catastrophically, but that doesn’t mean an old compressor won’t throw a rod or suddenly quit.

Tim, Like Jon said, air compressors die slowly. I think that I have only seen one die suddenly (rod out the side) in my entire 43 year career in the trucking business. the only part that you might think of carrying would be a governor for the compressor, but they seldom fail too. they are small and a piece of cake to change.
