Burned out H3s
Over the last year I have seen three H3s for sale for parts that were burned out. They all had fire damage in the upper front area (NOT the engine, generator, lower bays or back of bus area). I think they ranged from 1998 – 2005 year range.
What is in the front area of these vintage H3 coaches that would have caused fires. My first guess would be the halogen lights, just guessing. Seeing 3 in one year totaled for fire in the same frontal area, gets me thinking what should I be checking for?

I have seen similar damage in XL’s as well. The info I have was that it was due to bearing failure/abuse and it got so hot the tire caught fire/blew.

That does make sense for fire damage starting low, but the ones I have seen had fire damage from the glass windows and up.
I had my front drivers fender off while running some wires and found a 4″ x 4″ transformer sitting on a dry rotted piece of wood that was for an old plasma TV that no longer existed, BUT it still had power feeding it and it was quite warm to say the least. Disconnected and removed. I wonder how many other hidden hot spots there may be…

OMG. That had to be intentional. Unless it is from the fires last year.
