  • Built in AC digital amp draw meter?

Posted by Art on June 14, 2020 at 9:46 am

On the bus it has two Leg 1 & 2 AC volt analog amp draw meters not very accurate, On my Foretravel it had a built in meter that did both legs. Has anyone installed digital 110 volt amp draw meters? A way to keep track of AC volt draws, Dry camping what is using power?? Top photo Foretravel Bottom photo Prevost.

I couldn’t find any nice large digital meters like you had, but I replaced all the meters in my last coach with digital meters that I bought on Ebay.

    Art,

Working from memory, I had a 97 Royale and wanted to do the same thing. The problem was the transformers for the gauges were back mid ship I think towards the bedroom behind a removable cabinet and I would have had to run new wires to the front. Now days there maybe wireless digital gauges.

Maybe if I learn how to use the Victron battery monitor I can live with the anolog amp meters I have now, since Last time we were at the beach dry camping in 2018 I had problems with batteries going low, since then I’ve went from a 22 year old Whirlpool refer that sucked a lot of power to a new Whirlpool refer with 2 new Magnum 2812 inverters and all led lights and installed the Victron battery monitor we will see in August we will be back at Rincon beach dry camping we will see what happens??

the victron 712 battery monitor is pretty good. Pair it with a CGGX or Cerbo and its next level good. Nothing and nobody makes anything remotely close. The CGGX/Cerbo (any Victron Venus device) will store (internally and if you have a SD card – even more) – all the usage, peak, draw, etc at any given time and upload it to their VRM portal (free cloud storage and reporting). From there, you can look at the data you have at any given time. I have constant internet on in my coach – so the venus data is uploaded every few seconds. You can set alarms on when shore power is disconnected, temperature heat/cold, amperage load anything. .

But essentially its information overload, but its excellent information. Enclosed some screen shots to give you an idea.
