  • Broken Entry Door Stop

Posted by Archived on October 27, 2016 at 9:01 pm

Be careful not to let anyone over extend your entry door by hand or from high wind. The only way to repair, at least on my H, is to remove the hinge. The stud snapped off and I couldn’t get it out with an easy out, so the only option was to drill over size, tap and install a new bolt.

And not all of us are able to do that.

Did the door close with the broken stop? Or did it jam?

That happened to us to – we were lucky also. I was able to do it with the easy out whilst it was on the bus. The hardest part was paying the $70 to get the new bolt, roller, and plastic washers.

It opened and closed fine, but without the stop, you run the risk of damage to the two hinge mounting plates if the door is forced open too far.

A diffucult repair you took on Truk…few would attempt.

I have some numbers in mind what Prevost would charge, certainly in the 4 figures.
