  • Brass Air Fitings How TIGHT?

Posted by Art on April 8, 2023 at 10:34 am

At the secondary air tank under the front of the bus there is a double 90 degree fitting both 1/2 inch NPT and 1st one screws in to tank with with brass 90 to 1/2 pex 2nd one screws into 1st fitting, 2nd fitting is a check valve and they both face the same way. I was checking check valve by draining aux tank, check valve prevents air loss from a main tank for brakes, There is also the same setup at Primary tank in the rear for rear brakes,a little different no aux tank. But anyways I removed the outer 90 degree with check valve cleaned it and tested it and I use a good tread compound that does not harden, Screwing it back in to line it up with other fitting I feel I don’t want to go that extra 1/2 turn so I backed it off to line it up, Should I kill it to line or Not??

The reason they are shown aligned that way on your schematic is just for illustration purposes.
