  • Brake Air Tank Check Valve

Posted by John on January 19, 2021 at 1:35 am

Replacing an old leaking push to connect fitting on one of the brake air tanks. It is attached to a check valve 90 degree elbow 1/2 npt by 1/2 npt female. Anyone have any information on it’s part number and or source? The check valve was not leaking, but definitely looks to be original 1999. I have learned the hard way not to reuse any plumbing if you don’t have to.

    Thanks in advance to all.

The check valve portion is the 90* part on the left. It is a Bendix SC-3, pt# 800376, available on ebay etc. It’s on p.27 of this Bendix catalog: LINK

    Don,

Thanks so much for the reply.

As usual, you are spot on.

Do you know if there are similar valves on the other tanks?

Just wondering how many I need to order.

On my bus there are 2 SC-3 check vaves that I know of. One each on the primary and secondary brake tanks.

Here’s another pdf file link specifically about the service of the SC-3 check valves: LINK

    Don,

Great information as always. Next time I see Jon, no wait I mean Tom

Jon has nothing to do with dues payments, I will ask him to waive your dues.

    Thanks so much.
