Beware- 365 Tread Separation

Based on this discussion I checked my newer (22/17) steers and tag (34/14) and found one tag that had about a six to eight inch separation. We are now at ETLC having two new tires mounted. New on steer and rotated steer to tag. Thanks to Prevost Community for keeping us abreast of this situation and Jeff for invaluable service.

We discovered our Curb Side Tag had separation today! Had to order from Vancouver Prevost to deliver to Calgary. Our Tag tires are 41/14 installed March 2015, only 15,000 miles on them.
Will be interested to see what Michelin comes back with, if anything!

Talking about being over a barrel. I wonder if any of them have exploded or threw rubber and destroyed coach? How do they compare to the 12R 22.5 a lot of us run?

Numerous tire companies make a 385 65 22.5 tire. It is within 1/2″ of the 365s. Might be worth thinking about. I am going to look hard at these next year when I buy new tires.

I have initiated the process of finding out how to get our complaints into the right hands at Michelin.
This is a touchy subject for a variety of reasons. It is a sole supplier issue and while a 385 might work it is very critical to verify clearances along the full range of travel. Country Coach used 385 tires on some models, but they also made some changes to the front suspension that might have been required. I know they use non-standard air bags.
As sole supplier if this issue is a big as it appears we are the tip of the iceberg and Prevost and commercial operators might have numbers of failures that would push Michelin to really deal with this, but if there is a recall we may have to take our coaches out of service. That would not be good waiting for a fix.
Jeff and his supplier are involved in this and I am sure some action will be taken, but we have to have a solution that provides safe tires, compensation for tire failures and a means to keep our coaches on the road.

Regarding our 365 Tag sidewall separation, we had both Tag tires replaced today and the service manager at Prevost in Calgary is sending the damaged tire to Quebec for further investigation. He has promised to keep me advised of any developments, the more parties looking into this will hopefully find some resolution.

Anyone having tire separation you need to go to a Michelin dealer. I do not know how things work at Prevost because they are considered a manufacture not a dealer for Michelin. Every tire separation like shown is under warranty if not aged out…I have always got customers money off their replacement tires if it is a true sign of separation…. A 5 year old tire was given $400 off as example…
As per yesterday when my Michelin rep was out looking at a tire. It has not been a safety issue because they have not seen where this separation causes a blow out. If that were the case they would issue a recall. They are looking at the compounds of the tire to see how the tire could be changed to correct this.

I’m curious. With all the separations, has there been any common thread as to why? The pictures I have seen, although limited, all appear to be on the outside edge. Ours was that way too. Also, any count on tires ran on front versus tag only. Or tires moved from front to tag than having separation.

Mine was inside right front, just happened to see it with tire turned
