people may not agree with me, but I would take 75 south to hwy 72, which brings you to 411 in Vonore, south of ETLC… Other option is I40 east to 411 and south throught Alcoa, Marysville to Vonore.

I agree with Charles, 72 to Vonore, left on 411 and just before the bridge at the lake hang a left, you’ll see the big Prevost Communtiy and ETLC signs.

Southbound, I agree with everyone … 72 is easier. Look a map over really well before you get close to Knoxville to make sure you know where you’re going. The GPS always wants to take us through Alcoa, Marysville, and the airport on what I would call “the local tour”. Nice road, but once is enough unless you like those kinds of routes. Lots of lights as I recall, and if you hit them just right you’ll have lots of time to take in the local scenery.

We’ve never needed fuel when we’ve been close to Jeff’s, but it seems like the diesel prices just to the east of him are always low when we’re in the area. But the stations are small and I’ve kinda questioned how difficult it is to get in and out of some of them with a toad. Maybe some of the others can comment on whether they have used any of the stations in the area around Vonore to fuel up.

The first time we left Jeff’s was when we picked up the coach for the first time (the seller had it 18 miles away from Jeff’s shop and took it to him for a PPI and for the zero out procedures); I never drove it before buying it. This was my second time driving a Prevost (we had rented a 40′ Prevost the previous year and went racing in SW lower Michigan with it) and this was our first motorhome (George told me to not waste my money on a plastic coach, so I followed his instructions). We were headed north to Indy for the 500. We missed the turn Jeff told us to take to get to the I-road. Had the naviation system in the bus telling us where to go so at the next “kinda big interesection” we turned towards the I-road. Road was good until we got around the first corner and realized the shoulders disappeared and we were in not so gently rolling hills on a road that probably originally laid out as an Indian trail (I’m not making this up!). Fortunately it was still light out, so what wasn’t an issue. But the road was narrow, trees over hanging, etc. Also fortunate that there weren’t any of those 120 degree turns that are common in rolling rural areas that I wasn’t prepared for yet. Eventually we make it out to the I-road without damage or having run anyone off the road!

Dick, when we picked up our coach in Pennsylvania,I took a wrong turn and ended up on some rather harrowing secondary roads in Amish country that were best suited for horse and buggies. Ever since, I try to do as much recon as possible before we leave.

Tom, Barbie wants to thank you for suggesting the great Kenmore fridge you suggested. She likes it much better than the Amana!

Yep, 75 to 72 is the best route. Hit 411 and turn left and down to Horne Dr..
