    Community,

who offers the best roadside assistance? do you feel it’s necessary?

Coachnet, FMCA, AAA, Good Sam, AARP

also do you recommend joining FMCA?

FMCA made itself useless to most Class A/Bus owners when they stopped being a magazine for motorhomes only. I have had Good Sam roadside for about 20 years and never had a problem with multiple tows. Coachnet also gets very good reviews.

I have had Good Sams for 25 years, and this will be the last year. In the last ten years I have called for help 3 times. One flat tire on car, one flat on coach and the last time a blown air bag in Ohio. They couldn’t find me any help on any of the three.

This time I was at the first rest area south of Ohio on I 75 and it was on a Sunday. Stayed on the phone with them for over an hr. and no help. I found someone myself, but when I sent the bill to them they only paid $990 of the $378.14 bill.

Think I will give Coach Net a try and hope I never have to use them.

I have AAA RV for the car, Suburban, and race trailer. They have served me well. Called them once for the coach, and they were scared to come out once they understood what we had, and I worked the problem out by myself at no cost. I never really expected AAA RV to hand a 45′ bus.

So on the coach we’ve been “self-insuring” for seven and a half years. I have roadside assistance with the tires I just bought, so that is covered if I need it. If I did get a roadside plan, it would be Coach-Net.

I believe that ANY of these plans are ONLY as good as the operators in their Rolo-Dex. If I have a tire problem, I should have help but I’ve never tested it. Beyond that I’ll use the PC Forum, the PC Facebook page, and maybe one of the Brand X Facebook pages (with a grain of salt). If I need a tow, I’ve got John Hawkins (Miller Industries) number in my phone on the presumption he’ll have a customer with the right wrecker to haul our coach correctly.

Maybe the admin’s could put out a poll on this subject. What do yo have? Have you used it? Happy or not?

Had Coachnet for the 10 or 11 years we owned our XL. Never used on Coach but 2 years ago on new Ford F250 pickup, had a flat running down road (Austin Tx.) , pulled over and no jack for Truck. Ford forget to put one in from Factory. Called Coachnet and a flatbed wrecker service came out within 20 minutes had changed tire.

    PS

Glad I didn’t have jack as it was pouring down rain. Didn’t seem to bother the Gentleman. Worked right through it. Gave Him a 25 buck tip and He was a smiling when He left.

No experience with my theory but I kind of think call out a local road side service (Cat Mobile, Prevost, Service Tire Truck, etc)

Either they would get you back on the road with a onsite repair or call in backup or a Tow they know to be qualified.

Few months ago had a blowout on drive axle. Was able to limp into a facility get new shoes and back on the road in a few hours.
