Best Driving Route from Knox,Tn to Las Vegas
Anyone made this trip lately? Looking for tips , road construction delays, places to stay along the way ,etc. Thanks!

I did two trips this last year, one to Pahrump, NV and one to Williams AZ.
I went via I-40 out and back in the bus, and out via I-75, I-59, I-20, I-10 and then north to Pahrump via 60 and 93 in my car.
Both are OK. I-40 is a little bumpy in the Flagstaff area but other than that there was nothing exceptional about either route, especially when you consider the distance involved and the fact there is going to be all of the usual conditions ranging from construction, accidents, and normal traffic.
Southern route was taken only to avoid cold temps and snow on I-40 around Flagstaff in March and only for the westbound leg.

I went to the Grand Canyon in Oct. (stayed in Williams and used the train) and weather was not a factor, but with the elevation around Flagstaff it could be.
I have quite a few miles of driving our coaches in snow so I would have used I-40 all the way back home anyway. The only reason I took the southern route in March was the car tires shouldn’t be driven when temps are below 40F and definitely not in snow.

I drove I40 from Florida to Vegas early Dec. without a problem. Good luck on your trip to Vegas. Get ready for the heat we are running between 103 to 113 degrees. Look us up if you have the time.

For sure Hish. We`ll be their most of october. This will be our longest trip driving west in this bus. Wondering about resting points along the way too? On trips south we have easy access off interstate to walmart for overnighting. Not big fan of interstate rest areas.

Are you a member of Passport America? If so there many stops along the way please look them up, they offer half price stay at any of their campgrounds. We stayed at Albuquerque NM, Williams AZ, and many others that offer great deals. Also in Las Vegas depends on how long you are staying if only a week I would stay at LVM but if longer stay you may want to try other options, call me I can walk you through some of the CG in Vegas.

When I am on the road such as a long trip west, I pick rest areas by looking at them on Google. I pick those that allow me to get an end spot so the slides can come out. I ALWAYS stop driving early so I get the pick of sites in an empty rest area. Far less potential for problems than Walmart or Cracker Barrel. If a RV park is right at an interstate exit it moves to the top of my list. But I will not drive out of my way to get in an RV park just so I have a place to sleep.
If I have to be between trucks in a rest area I will not stop. Too much risk of another truck coming in and scraping my coach which is why I pick end spots. That reduces the risk by 50%.
No truck stops for me unless I am really hard up or there is a really good protected spot.

We spend our summers by the California coast (reverse snowbirds). We take 40 every summer catching it at Memphis. It would be closer for us to take 10, but it is so boring and very hot after you leave San Antonio. We look for a Cracker Barrel, Walmart, or the RV section at a Flying J. We do stay in one RV park on the west side of Albuquerque sometimes. What attracts me is they allow you to wash your motor home which I always do. We also have stayed in Williams, AZ.
We do not feel safe in a rest area and will not stay in one. If you do not have a FMCA atlas you need to get one. It shows all of the Walmart, Cracker Barrel, and flying j’s within a short distance of the interstate. We find this to be an invaluable resource.
