Best backup pump option?
My Jetpaq has bit the dust, and the Mach5 is on back-order. I do not currently have a backup DC water pump, but I am pretty sure I have a separate accumulator tank. Given that I probably won’t be able to get a mach5 for a couple months, what pump would you recommend as a backup? Ideally something that really could be used for flushing a Royal Flush toilet (with external accumulator). Thanks!

FWIW, my recollection is that the jetpac had a built in accumulater and the mach5 does not. Sure you have an accumulator?

I have a blue tank, around 12″ x 12″ if I had to guess, in the plumbing bay.

I am doing this also as we speak.
12v Remco 55 Aquajet, 5.5 gph, 65 psi. $230
I can run all three faucets wide open, also the shower, and the Headhunter
flushes.
My Grundfos couldn’t be depended upon and is only one year old and discontinued
with no support. I tried a 12v Shurflo 4088 but it was 3.5 gph
and 45psi. The Headhunter requires 60 psi. I’m using 3/4 ” hose instead of the 1″
that the Grundfos used. I bolted it to the original mount for testing and will clean
it up later.

I actually wonder if not going the mach5 route at all is fine. Looks like Remco makes a 115v version as well. It would be an easy swap, being able to use the existing AC circuit, which is triggered via remote switches in places like the water closet. Going 12v might involve a bit more work, unless my coach was already wired for it.

After checking the specs, it looks like the 115v version is not nearly as capable, only 0.5GPM @60PSI, 1.5GPM for the 12 and 24V versions. So maybe I just use the AC circuit (and remote switches) to drive a AC-coil relay to turn on/off a 12V or 24V DC circuit.

That’s what I’m going to do. I brought
12v power into the water bay from the
house battery bank. The pump is fused
in line. I may put in another Remco for back up.
My coach didn’t have a second pump,
just the Grundfos.

SeaFlow 55 series with or wo/accumulator tank, 5.5gph, 60psi, amazon $130 to $200. If you want to spend $1k or more install a Gianneschi pump.

Depending on space i would use a grundfos or a mach 5

Per Headhunter, with an accumulator tank the only pump requirement is +50 PSI. GPM not an issue.

I went with 2 x SeaFLO 55 series in 24VDC. Since my house battery system is 24V, I thought I might as well use 24V and not involve a battery balancer (or later a DC PS with lithium) with 12V. I could not find these pumps anywhere in the USA, so I had to get them via Aliexpress, at about $300 for the pair, shipping included.
Since the batteries are stored above the curb side tag and drive wheels, it was very easy to get 24V to the water bay. I ran a 10 gauge wire with 30 amp in-line fuse to a relay which is triggered by the 120VAC that the JetPaq used previously.
All plumbing is 3/4″ hose to the pumps, then merge to/from 1″ to original plumbing. Headhunter toilet flushes “with authority” 🙂
