Belt Tensioner
Ok this is my first time to check the condition of the idler pulleys that the serpentine belt loops through. I know I have to back off the belt tensioner but never have done this before. Do I assume correctly to turn the centre bolt shown in the picture below anti clock wise….using a breaker bar? Thanks.

In the square slots insert a socket wrench, (it looks like a 3/4, but some are 1/2) and just lift against the internal spring. Do not loosen the bolt you see in the center.
I say lift because I think the photo is inverted.

Use a 3/4 inch breaker bar. Insert into the square that I have circled then lift up to relieve the belt tension.
