  • Bedroom engine cover/hatch removal

Posted by DON on April 14, 2023 at 10:11 am

For yrs I’ve been putting off figuring out how the remove the engine cover in bedroom so as to have access to the top of the engine and north end of the engine compartment. Yesterday I finally figured it out and got it done/off.

Prevost put in a removeable engine cover/hatch with four 5/16″ bolts, then Liberty covered it with plywood and covered the plywood with carpet. I removed the mattress. I removed the lower 3 drawers. It hits the bed base. I had to remove the face from the furthest streetside drawer because it wouldn’t slide out far enough to remove it. I poked around a little with a ice pick and 90* hook like ice pick and found the curbside edge of the hatch and 4 bolt heads. The curbside edge of the hatch is about 25.5″ from the inside wall. It was necessary to cut the carpet on the curbside end of the cover/hatch. It was also necessary to remove the carpet and plywood from the hatch/cover before I was able to remove the hatch.

Now I have easier access to many hoses I’m going to replace. I’ll also be able take it to a maintenance shop to have the valves/injectors set/checked.

Your results may vary (different converters, 40′ vs 45′, yr models, etc).

It’s the same on a 45″ liberty, but that cover is under the cabinets.

When I put sound deaden material back there I cut around the bolt holes
