  • Bed lift Norgren air leak

Posted by William on May 26, 2018 at 8:41 pm

I have a loud air leak from the norgren that is responsible for the air lift bed in our Liberty 2001 coach. I have included some pictures of the suspect manifold.

Pushing the bed lift button, I can hear the solenoid clicking, Bed will not lift without assist.

Will go down on own, but manifold keeps leaking.

Tried to shut off air at valve that is just above the manifold. In normal position it is perpendicular to the line, moved valve to parallel to line, and no change in air noise.

The large red knob on the left of the valve has no resistance, and I can push and pull it from the manifold without any resistance or effect on the leak.

    What am I missing??

Where does one get a new norgren like this?

alright, so I admit that I am stupid about this.

After going back to the coach and putting my hands all over the place, I found out the leak was coming from a silver manifold above the Norgren. It has 2 solenoids, and 3 air lines. one coming into the top, and 2 on bottom. I am figuring that the air lines on bottom control up and down motion of the bed through the large pistons under the bed.

The Norgren is NOT the culprit for the leak, It is the valve body above the Norgren manifold that is leaking.

The solenoiods are working on that valve, but leaking out the left side of the silver valve body.

So my stupid question now is what is that Norgren for??

Why is there a air valve shut off there??

I have never done anything in that area so I don’t know what I am talking about except to suggest you consider some of the pneumatic valving might be associated with the door slide emergency release.

I believe on my Liberty coaches with pneumatic door operators that some valving in that area allows pressure on the pocket door to be released so a person would not be trapped in the bedroom.

The silver valve just above the Norgren that you see, is a Versa Valve, you’ll probably have to talk to a Versa distributor in your area, order to get a new shuttle valve, possibly a KGG 4232 0024. The air you hear, leaking from the valve, is probably coming from the exhaust valve. I have the same thing happening on my 1997 Liberty. I am now in the process of repairing it.
