This is my opinion and I hope Tom will jump in if he gets a chance.

The BCM site has ben populated by a wide range of coach owners, from those with store bought coaches that are interested in the ideas expressed on the site, to those starting from the beginning and converting a schoolie. I have seen the range of owners and have interacted with a number of them via email or personal contact. All good folks and all are welcome.

When we asked Prevost to endorse this site it was so by encouraging large numbers of Prevost owners, operators and drivers (as in entertainer) to come together so we all can share in the benefits of large group membership. Prevost has an interest in our success because by participating actively they have an opportunity to hear from their marketplace. Our posts on the forum for example will reveal to a reader what we like about Prevost and our coaches and what we don’t like about Prevost and our coaches. We do not intend to censor criticism unless the writer is just off the wall and it is not justified. We sure will encourage open discussions.

But while we would love to see every member owning a Prevost, we are realistic enough to know we are going to have members who are only planning to buy a Prevost, or who just want to learn about a Prevost, or who have another brand such a an Eagle or MCI and just like to hang around on bus web sites. Believe me we have more in common than most may realize.

So to address the question of inviting people, go for it. I asked MAK if I could post about our site coming on line and agreed we would link to his web site but I was turned down and I do not feel comfortable pirating his members. But I am not opposed to people who like this site and feel others will benefit from letting those folks know we are almost fully up and running.

Having said that I want to make an important point that everyone must understand. Neither Tom nor I want this site to replace a site specific to a person’s interest. If that person is active in BCM we want him to maintain his relationship with that group. If a person is a member of the Prevost Owner’s group or the Prevost Prouds we do not want them to leave their groups for Prevost Community. We want to be a generic Prevost site open and welcoming to all who are Prevost enthusiasts from the home builders to those who will buy a brand new conversion. We want this site to eventually be the “go to” site for Prevost specific information, advertisers, articles, and coaches for sale, but not to replace, but to supplement the site for their specific interest.

This is the place where we hope to create a large national rally of Prevost enthusiasts supported to an extent via seminars and possible service by our suppliers and Prevost, we want this to be where members can get discounts and other benefits from Prevost and others, but we want the individual special interest groups to be where our members to go for the social aspects of ownership primarily.

We can all learn a lot from the likes of Jim A RV fire expert and a Eagle owner. Clifford who has owned multiple Eagles and Prevost. Eric On the east coast Who is a Eagle owner /Cabinet maker who is doing some fantastic engine-trans experiments. Not to mention Technomads Chris&Cherie who just happen to own a GM who’s on road computer skills scare me. Not to mention thier lithium ion battery research. I will hold off and limit my spreading the site info. I will keep my personal lines open to them and have shared where I can be contacted with some if BCM crashes. Well I have to admit I didn’t think I was going to get to register because I own Setra’s!

When I tried clicking on the “register” icon in the top right corner it kept coming up “page not available” so I thought ya’ll had a filter on it to keep guys like me from registering. But I found a back door into it by reading this post and trying to reply to it. And it brought me to the registration page.

So there you have it a non-Prevo guy has found his way in and as the rest will say “There goes the neighborhood because BK is here!”

Welcome aboard BK. Actually welcome to the asylum where we always answer questions, and on rare occasion we may actually provide the correct answer.

I’ll let you share your background with the membership if you choose, but I would like to say to the members that even though BK owns an SOB (some other brand) his expertise is appreciated. Nothing says we cannot try to influence him to consider a Prevost in the future.

You should have been able to easily register, so if you want to share what glitch you encountered we’ll see if our web guru can fix the problem.

By the way Bk passed the drive way test at my house Tuesday night. In his 05 Setra. It’s got wiggly tags. He’s been here several times. Is giving a set of radiators a ride to Fla to another busnut for me. Bob

Thanks for the compliments. I don’t know about being a pro though. Just a self taught old country boy that has learned just about everything I know in life the hard way.

I don’t do book learn’n too well so I get in there & get dirty. Once I take it apart, I figure out how to put it back together. (or chuck it and go buy new! LOL! But since I ain’t rich I usually figure out how to fix it.)

I grew up in Indianapolis and hung out in my dad & uncles garages while they worked on race cares while I was a kid. Never missed a chance to go to the track, or any of their friends garages either.

As I got older I started working on my own stuff. By the time I was 14 I had my own ’69 Grand Tonio and tore it down and rebuilt it.

I also started driving tow trucks when I was 14. And still enjoy doing it today. (only occassionally)

I have owned, drove & worked on big trucks most of my adult life and in 2004 my dad an I started a charter bus company as a retirement project for him. It has grown into a full time job for my dad, mom, sister, myself and part time jobs for 1/2 dozen drivers, and a bus washer/shop hand.

I wouldn’t claim to be an expert, but when I have to I tear it apart, find out what makes it tick and reassemble it.

Oh and on the registration thing it was as I said.

When I first went to register I tried to use the link for registering in the upper right corner. And it kept coming up as “page unavailable.”

So I just figured I was being blocked for owning an “Elite fleet of Setra’s LOL (Jest kidding.)

I can see that BK has just opened another topic for us to debate. Maybe we will let his “elite fleet of Setras” slide for now, but I can see there may be some comments from the peanut gallery before long.

So far I am amazed this group has been so polite that none of the typical areas of debate have arisen. Usually when we get a bunch of bus drivers together it isn’t long before we get into discussion about H3 vs XL vs XLII (and soon X3). I have no idea how we have avoided discussions about over the road air(bus air) vs Cruise Airs vs roof airs and now mini splits. Then lets not forget the discussions about the smooth side XLII versus the rivet XL coaches.

A BCM member shopping for Prevost stumbled over this site and was impressed. He posted on the BCM site his opinion and location of prevostcommunity. Just to let you know some one else like it also. I know his rep and he has owned many Prevost and is one of the most knowledgeable around and will be a asset. Bob
