Bay door latches
My ’98 CC has push button luggage door lock/unlock buttons. All the bays lock perfectly but one of the bay locks will not unlock unless I use the key. I have tried various lubes and lube combinations but it just won’t unlock. If there a replacement for the drive motor (magent?) that causes the locking bar to slide back and forth? Any other suggestion that has worked for you?

Following. Same problem on our 99 XL45.

Ditto- All but one works well. Lubrication didn’t help, thought it might be an alignment issue, but it seems to line up well.
Could it maybe an air issue, a leak causing not enough pressure to build up and engage and disengage?

These are electric “motors”. Don’t understand why the one locks perfectly but will not unlock.

This is not a “cure all” but it seems to help. (I believe I’ve had to replace one of my motors.) If you dissassemble the mechanism, you will find 2 levers/springs which cause the locking shaft to snap into it’s final position. Unfortunately, these seem to caause an initial resistance to movement of the locking shaft. Removal of these lever/spring conbinations seems to allow the locking shaft to move more easily.

I took another shot at trying to get the locking mechanism to work in both directions. While Janet pushed the lock and unlock buttons I used a continuous spray of WD40 and wiped some residue on the lock bar. Did this a couple of times and now it’s working again just like new! I will need to keep an eye on this as WD40 tends to attract dust, but for now, all is well!

I was warned by a locksmith to never use WD40. He claimed they designed it to have a varnish like substance in the mix so it lubricates at first, then it dries out, gets sticky and requires more WD40 to lubricate it. It becomes a never ending cycle.
Don’t know if this is true, but it seams to represent the results I have gotten when using WD40.

WD-40 is not a lubricant although most people think so. Use PB silicone or Amsoil heavy duty MP (metal Protector.
PB blaster is the best rust penetrant . I have multiple cans at any one time.
