  • Battery rectifier wiring fire

Posted by Bill on November 18, 2023 at 10:11 am

After having my coach in storage and not plugged in I open my engine battery access door and discover I had a fire and the smaller wires on my large blue finned rectifier burned up. My house batteries had been dead for a month but my engine batteries were fully charged. I had not started my main engine for over a month Can anybody tell me how to diagnose this and repair or replace?

Are you referring to the isolator?

Or the Vanner (type) equalizer ?

I’m not sure what its called. It is bright blue, has large cooling fins, 3 very heavy wires on the lower portion and three smaller wires on the upper which burned.

I also am told the replacement is now called an Isostart dual rectifier and sells for $1200. Your comments?

So is it a rectifier, an isolator, or a blender? Can anybody tell me what possibly happened?
