We only have one battery charging gauge in our instrument cluster. It is not safe to stop anywhere (on the turnpike). Will stop and check the voltage on the altenators as soon as we can find a safe pull out. At least we are headed to the right place! Will keep everyone posted once we have more data 😉

What comes to mind is the loose wire crimp on back of 50 DN alternator .

Thanks – will check that when we stop. Tried to load up a picture of the one gauge pegged at zero – you will have to use your imagination.

Checked chassis alt – wires tight but only putting out 5 volts. Checked the coach alt – that one is putting out 28 volts. Delco Remy chassis 24V alt. In a previous thread, we had mentioned that both of our alts were 24V and had included pictures (Chassis/12V Altenator 8/30/15). Just called Jeff and left a message 😉

It is a Delco Remy Alternator 26SI 75 Amp.

I know this is a late response but if the coach has a chassis battery charger, run the generator continuously and turn on the chassis battery charger. That will keep the chassis batteries charged, Don’t run chassis loads like AC or lights. Once you get to Vonore you will have help to get the problem solved.

On the road to Vonore from Perry, GA. Started up the coach this a.m. and the alt charging gauge is now working! Showing 27 – 28 volts. Maybe a loose wire on the gauge, but we will have it checked out once we arrive at Jeff’s 😉

Thank you everyone for your help! It is nice to be able to reach out in situations while on the road. As Donald put it, your two cents is better than no cents even if it doesn’t fit in a nickel slot 😉
